“Spacious but homely!”
Reviewed 9 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

The cottage is in a nice quiet location, very spacious and homely although the en suite in one of the bedrooms is a bit on the small side!
The drive is a little small but that can't be helped
The duvets have a slight damp smell

The cottage had everything that we needed

“Beautiful cottage, exactly what we had hoped for.”
Reviewed 24 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We had a fabulous week at wrens nest. the weather of course helped! The cottage is spacious and beautifully kitted out. It is very comfortable, especially the sofas! Would love to come back in the winter and make full use of the log burner and blankets. Beautifully situated, looking across the common so useful for pleasant walks in the evening. Really felt like home for the week. The outside space was great and my boys loved the surprise of the swing in the garden. Shop and pub were great and both in walking distance. Ideally situated for a day trip to the Isle of Wight from Lymington which we squeezed in.

“Lovely cottage - but the damp really needs sorting”
Reviewed 27 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

We've just returned from a week away in this cottage. The location of the cottage is great. we loved watching the ponies trot by, and the cottage itself was perfect in terms of size and layout. It was well appointed with everything we needed, and the toys in the kids bedroom was a nice touch.

What let this cottage down though was the damp. Like the previous reviewer wrote, the musty smell hit you as soon as you entered and even with opening windows and buying lots of air freshner it was there for the whole or our stay. All our clothes have had to be washed (even those we didn't wear) and we've had to Fabreeze spray the children's cuddly toys on our return as the smell really permeated into everything.

It felt like the damp was a housewide issue (but was worst in the master bedroom), and something that had been there for a long time. I appreciate that it would be costly to resolve, but it really wasn't pleasant and for that reason I would not recommend this cottage to a friend. If the damp issue was resolved I would as everything else was great.

Liked best: The size of the cottage was perfect
Liked least: The damp - it was so off putting coming back into it at the end of each day

Thank you for comments. We have personally been away from the cottage for a number of months and will returning to the country this week to have a really good look at the cottage. Previous reviews of our cottage have alway been very positive, which includes direct feedback not through trip advisor, and damp smells have never been mentioned as an issue until just recently. We will assess the cottage ourselves this week and after an extremely wet winter we will look to see if there is anything that has not had an opportunity to properly dry out and seek professional assistance as advised.
I am so very sad and sorry that this had become such an issue for you and had tainted your view of our cottage.
