“Good location on the edge of the forest but spooky by a rude owner with a bad attitude”

On arrival at the postcode we spent a good 30-40 minutes looking for the property asking locals etc. We then phoned the owner (not easy as no mobile reception) and received a very rude abrupt greeting stating all the details were in the welcome email.
There was no welcome pack emailed just a key code for the door. Eventually Mr Grump directed us to the property and how to get in.
The inside of the building is pretty nice although you would struggle to swing a cat and some of the decor is in need of refreshing.
Outside lets the property down badly. The £95 hot tub is quite frankly a rip off. It is a rubbish low end unmaintained and dirty looking thing with a broken lid cover and the yard is overlooked by the neighbouring property whose yard you have to walk through if you'd prefer not to climb through the ditch; which was the suggested point of access by the owner!!
One of the main other flaws with this holiday home is the ludicrous cooking and washing facilities. There is no kitchen sink despite there being a hole in the work top and plumbing for one. There is a perfectly good dishwasher; sited in an outside shed! Why it and the microwave oven live in a shed when there is an excess of storage in the kitchen is anybody's guess.
These feature points give a distinct feel of glamping which to be fair, given the cost we could really have done without.

The highlight of the trip came once we arrived home. Upon contacting the owner to find out when we could expect our deposit to be returned I received a reply saying that if I left a 5* review on trip advisor he would return the deposit within 24 hours. Despite being horrified at the attempted bribery I obliged in order to get my £275 back and as promised it was returned in minutes once the review was on. The only downside was that as it came back via PayPal it then took a week to land in my account.

Since then I have made a formal complaint to Holiday Lettings about the bribery but they have been less than useless and so far not replied.

So here is my honest review of the holiday home and service received

It's a nice enough venue although illegally built without planning according to the neighbours.

The access is inadequate to say the least.

The owners attitude is one of the biggest drawbacks to this venue.

Certain parts of the property are overdue for some maintenance work- the bouncy decking, broken fences and overgrown brambles that attack your legs when trying to access via the ditch gate.

The other drawback for the venue is that it appears not all of the locals appreciate guests staying in this building-possibly because it "shouldn't be there"
We had large branches laid over the car one night whilst parked outside the holiday home-not the owners fault I agree but not very welcoming and a little intimidating to say the least.

We can however recommend the Masala in Ringwood whose delivery drivers now know how to find the hut behind the hedge

Contrast this review with all the other 100 plus 5* reviews on trip advisor and realise this is just someone deliberately trying to damage our good name and reputation when you look at the facts.

Full directions with pictures are all provided in the emailed welcome pack 30 days before arrival. In all the emails sent prior during and booking it states if you don't receive the welcome pack within 2 days let us know and we will ensure you receive it. I guess this guest missed all that including all the facilities on the web site and all the pictures before booking. We do try to please everyone but have to accept that no matter how hard we try some will dissapointingl never be happy.

My family & I stayed at this lodge last week! We had an amazing 2 nights.
Throughout it has been well decorated with state of the art sound system & the LED coloured lights in kitchen are a fun added touch. Didn't see a problem with no sink or cooker as it states this on the website & we ate at the Alice Lisle pub 1 night which was lovely.
Our only slight problem was not being able to connect to the wireless. Could have been our networks.
Seeing the horses & cows each morning was so lovely.
Paying the additional for the hot tub was well worth it. All in all we had an amazing stay at this lodge & will def look to stay again.
Thank you :)

Local pubs are about 1 mile away, close at 11pm and didn't have any live music event.. this was a one off 50th birthday party bank from a garden about 500 yards away and we did report to the police. It won't happen again. Regards

Second time we have stayed here and both times has been perfect despite the typical English weather this time.
The lodge has everything you need to make your stay comfortable and easy.
It,s great to see donkeys and horses first thing in the morning, great walks on the doorstep and a couple of pubs within easy walking distance. Would definitely recommend.
