Premier Inn Stroud Hotel

I've stayed in a lot of Premier Inns and sadly this was not one of the best. It's more to do with the fact that it's set in an old building which is in desperate need of upgrading. It's clean and comfortable so I can't be too critical. I can't fault the staff who were fantastic during our stay. There was No A/C so the room was very warm.

Room Tip: Try to avoid room 120. Dark and dismal with very little natural light

We traveled to this Premier Inn from the north so we ignored the given directions and left the M5 at junction 11a, joined the A417 (London) and took the first junction for the A46 into Stroud. We chose this hotel simply as a stop over on our way to Wells and Bournemouth.

The route, as good as takes you to the hotel front door, and avoids driving through the town. The drive also takes in some beautiful views over Gloucestershire countryside: whats the rush. Its better arriving late as Stroud does not offer that much.

The Premier Inn and its car park is to the rear of the Brewers Fair type Public House, although the car park was busy when we arrived but we got a space and booked in.

The staff seem to be clone copies of all Premier Inn employees, but they are a cheery crew and helpful.

The room as always was clean, tidy with coffee, tea and sugar provided.

Tesco is 1 minute away and the town of Stroud 5 mins at a push, enter the town by the footbridge: its safer.

The meals (we did not dine here) are taken in the pub but the town offered the usual selection of fast food and restaurants.

Never been disappointed by a Premier Inn and we've stayed in a few over the years: cheap (compared to many) and cheerful. What more do you want.

First of all the brewers fare next door at the Old Nelson is perfect. But the hotel is like a tin can, from checking in to checking out you can hear every foot step, every door close and even the adjoining rooms going to the toilet. All through the day and night. I was woke a few times beyond midnight. I would not stay here again and would not recommend which is a shame as the area is great. Typical Premier inn though with a clean fresh bed and a clean room also tea & coffee

Room Tip: Do not stay on the ground floor
