“Fantastic”

We have just spent a week at Yew Tree Cottage and I can't recommend it highly enough. It is in an ideal location with a very short walk to the centre of Stow, in a very quiet cul de sac. The cottage itself was absolutely spotless and the photos do not do it justice. It has a very secure small patio which was ideal for our two dogs and we were very grateful they could come with us. The cottage had everything you could possibly need and was very warm and cosy. Would not hesitate to return or recommend.

As usual the booking process was easy via Trip Advisor. The property was easy to find and instructions regarding the key to gain access were clear. We arrived to find a clean and tidy house. Parking was right outside for the week.We had everything we needed in the house. We did not need to use the wood burning stove as the cottage had a warm and cosy feel to it. Everything worked, the shower and bathroom facilities were good. Even spare light bulbs supplied. We found plenty of things to do locally as well as further afield. Local eating places which were good included The Bell at the end of the road, and The Queens Head and The Kings Arms in the main village. All in all a very good and relaxing holiday. I only rated the bed as average as we have a super king super duper bed at home which spoils us. The bed we slept in was fine but a bit cramped for us. ( I said we are spoilt)

“Quiet, cosily luxurious, and convenient”
Reviewed 30 June 2013 for a stay in June 2013

Like the previous reviewer, I found this a fine base. Since she wrote, a new kitchen and a wood-burning stove have been installed. ( I didn't have to test the stove but was glad of functioning central heating on a particularly chilly wet evening). Cottage and garden were bright and warm when the sun shone. Tastefully decorated, with all modern amenities and no outside noise, this was a comfortable and relaxing place to stay.

“Great location, great little cottage”
Reviewed 9 April 2013 for a stay in April 2013

I stayed at Yew Tree Cottage for 2 days with 2 friends. We wanted a simple girlie hassle-free break and we certainly achieved this during our stay.
Firstly, the location was brilliant - in a short walk we were on Stow on the Wold's high street. A great little village with lots of shops, art galleries and antique shops - great for a few hours of pottering around. Lots of pubs/restaurants/tea shops so we were not bored during our 2 nights/3 days. For one of the days, we did a very easy 7 mile walk across fields and through woods to the Slaughters in the April sunshine.
Secondly, the cottage itself was spacious enough for 3 adults and had everything we needed: A well-equipped kitchen, a cosy lounge and 2 double bedrooms. Throughout the cottage was clean and comfortable. The reason why I didn't give this 5 stars is because there are a few things which could be improved to make this cottage perfect - a log fire, 1 of the rooms would benefit from being a twin room instead of a double, the kitchen could do with a bit of a face lift and a few picky pointers - bath mat, bins upstairs, hand towel in bathroom etc. However, the owners did leave a note to say the cottage was going to receive an en suite upstairs, an attic room, a revamped kitchen and a log burner so when this work is done, this cottage will be pretty much perfect for cost and size.
The booking was simple and easy to make, the price was excellent value for money and the owners were very welcoming - left us a note and chocolates on our arrival - a nice, friendly touch.
Overall, I definitely recommend this cottage.

Management Response
14 Apr 2013
We are pleased you enjoyed your stay, thank you for your comments, as we have only just started to let the cottage, they are very helpful. Bath mat, bins and hand towels in the bathroom and downstairs Wc will be provided in future. We decided on 2 doubles, as there will be 2 singles in the Attic Rooom very shortly. The log-burner is being installed this week, with Cotswold stone fireplace, Oak floors in lounge and bedroom and a new kitchen to be installed and en-suite to follow later.
