I stayed at Yew Tree Cottage for 2 days with 2 friends. We wanted a simple girlie hassle-free break and we certainly achieved this during our stay.
Firstly, the location was brilliant - in a short walk we were on Stow on the Wold's high street. A great little village with lots of shops, art galleries and antique shops - great for a few hours of pottering around. Lots of pubs/restaurants/tea shops so we were not bored during our 2 nights/3 days. For one of the days, we did a very easy 7 mile walk across fields and through woods to the Slaughters in the April sunshine.
Secondly, the cottage itself was spacious enough for 3 adults and had everything we needed: A well-equipped kitchen, a cosy lounge and 2 double bedrooms. Throughout the cottage was clean and comfortable. The reason why I didn't give this 5 stars is because there are a few things which could be improved to make this cottage perfect - a log fire, 1 of the rooms would benefit from being a twin room instead of a double, the kitchen could do with a bit of a face lift and a few picky pointers - bath mat, bins upstairs, hand towel in bathroom etc. However, the owners did leave a note to say the cottage was going to receive an en suite upstairs, an attic room, a revamped kitchen and a log burner so when this work is done, this cottage will be pretty much perfect for cost and size.
The booking was simple and easy to make, the price was excellent value for money and the owners were very welcoming - left us a note and chocolates on our arrival - a nice, friendly touch.
Overall, I definitely recommend this cottage.
