“Beautiful cottage, fantastic people”
Reviewed 18 December 2017 for a stay in December 2017

Hi,
we stayed here for a couple of nights in December 2017. On arrival the parking spot was fairly easy to find as Loraine the owner had sent very clear instructions. The cottage itself is just a couple of minutes walk from where you park.
The cottage itself is spotless, very comfortable and snug. If you've watched the movie "The Holiday" and always fancied renting a place similar to the one Cameron Diaz stays in when she comes over to England (in a house swap with Kate Winslet), look no further. Many cottages in the area do not have an option for less than 3 nights. Thankfully Loraine was much more accommodating.
While we were there my wife lost a silver ring she had just purchased in Stratford on Avon. We didn't really know where it had been lost. We asked the owner to have a look for it, which she did along with her cleaning staff . They found it in a snow drift near to where we parked the car. Brilliant and so helpful and kind.
Stow on the Wold is a lovely quaint English village. Even better at this time of the year because you get to avoid all the tourists! ;-)
Seriously though it never disappoints. Lovely people and a fabulous place, one of those locations that you hope with all of your heart will never change.
There are many nice pubs and restaurants in the area. The scenery is beautiful (covered in snow and looking like a Christmas card during our visit). There was also a very good (but busy) Christmas market at Stratford on Avon, around an hour away by car.
I can't recommend this place enough. Wonderful. Go on, treat yourselves you know you deserve it!

“Amazing gem in the heart of Stow on the wold”
Reviewed 27 November 2017 for a stay in November 2017

We were a parry of five that stayed at the cottage this weekend .From the moment we booked nothing was to much trouble for the owner . One of our party is disabled and Loraine made it possible for us to use the downstairs sofa bed to save having to use the stairs . The cottage is full of everything you would need for a few days away in the Cotswolds. With a parking space close to the house that made our life so much easier . The cottage is a three minute walk into the main square with great shops and places to eat. We didn’t have enough time to try them all but will definitely be back . Thanks Southview for a great weekend

I am sorry to hear that you found the cottage dark and cold. If you had asked we would have informed you where to override the heating. We have it on timed as we never know what the UK weather is going to be.
With regards to the living room being dark i am afraid that it is an old cottage and nobody has ever mentioned this before.
We do state that the bathroom is on the ground floor on our website.
I hope your negative comments did not spoil your holiday.

I am so sorry that you had a problem with the hot water. I am afraid that British gas were unable to come out during your short stay. It has now been fixed.
I am sorry to hear that your mother had to sleep on the ground floor,

“Delightful and Charming--a Magical Hideway”
Reviewed 26 April 2017 for a stay in April 2017

Picture a perfect English cottage, loaded with amenities, beautifully decorated with its own garden, tucked away from the busyness of life--a retreat where you can simply relax in charming surroundings--but yet only a five minute walk to the centre of bustling Stow on the Wold. This describes what we experienced when we stayed in Southview Cottage. Its owner Loraine and her caretakers Elaine and Tom were so thoughtful and helpful during our stay. I cannot say enough about how personally concerned they were in answering our questions. We are seasoned vacation home renters and both of us agree this is a rare find and we hope to return again.
