Under the section of Burgers was the unassumingly named French Dip burger. The name DOES NOT do it justice. Trust me.
So impressed we have booked already for a birthday in March.
Good selections of gin.

My partner and I love it here. We've done the chefs table twice. It's such excellent value for money at £25 and you get to try all the fabulous things on the menu. The chefs are entertaining and informative, you can eat until you fear you will burst and it's an all round wonderful evening doing something slightly different.
As well as the chefs table we have also been multiple times for a roast on a Sunday and it is top notch. Even on my birthday when there were 20 of us each plate of food was excellent.
It's a very cool place. I much prefer it to it's rather pretentious sister 131 but that's just personal preference.
Thank you The Tavern. We love you!
Oh and chick pea chips and salt and pepper squid = to die for!

We arrived at the Tavern for Christmas Eve lunch, drawing a line on our festive shopping for another year, hungry and, in my case, a tad thirsty too. The setting is great - clearly the owners have transformed an ordinary (and I suspect neglected) pub into a very cool but friendly place that offers just good food and excellent drink. They delivered on all fronts. The burgers and shoestring fries me and the kids had were the equal of any burger I've ever eaten. The pints I happily downed were a perfect accompaniment and the staff were friendly and unobtrusive. Frankly, it's as well I don't live in Cheltenham because I'm sure I'd visit more often than would be good for me.

The zucchini chips we shared for starters were great too.

Crumbs I haven't been here since mothers day, far to long really. This time we pretty much had burgers as opposed to a Sunday roast.

I have to say the starters were particularly good especially the chick pea chips which I urge you all to try.
