“Pedantic owners, but a delightful place”
Reviewed 31 December 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We loved the home, the location and the immediate surroundings, and Bourton-on-the-Water itself is picture-postcard-level pretty.
We'd warn you about the tiny, inconvenient bathrooms, and the owners being a little pedantic (i.e. you have to take the trash out when you leave, etc. despite paying for a cleaning), and also minor stuff about how difficult it is to find the place in the first place. But all of that is part of the charm of the place, and very minor in context.

"Character Cottages, as a marketing agency, does not look after or maintain any cottages. The following is written by the owners of Middle Gable"
Thank you for your review and we are so glad that you enjoyed your stay at Middle Gable. I don’t have the exact measurements of the bathrooms with me at the moment but there is more than enough room for a bath, toilet and wash basin and plenty of room to move around (it is also situated right next to the bedroom). The other bathroom on the ground floor is a shower room and toilet and can be described as very convenient especially for children and disabled guests. Please bear in mind that the house is almost 400 years old! We do ask guests to put their rubbish outside, which they are more than happy to do. Regarding the cleaning, this is included in the rental price and is not an additional cost. The instructions on how to find the property are supplied by Character Cottages and are extremely accurate and easy to follow. They also provide you with photographs to make it even clearer for you to find and the postcode takes you straight to the property if you are using a sat nav. I am more than happy to give guests extra instructions when they ring me prior to arrival.

“Each time we stay it gets harder to leave”

This was our fourth time staying in this lovely cottage. It was later in the year than we have ever stayed before, but the heated floor kept it warm and toasty. Warmly welcomed back by the Owners, the neighbors and the local pub staff, our stay in this charming village was another spectacular, relaxing success.

We did have a family get together at the cottage one day that was also fun. But, for the most part, it was just leisure and comfort. Always lots of window shopping and duck feeding in the village. Lots of yummy delights at the Bakery.

We had a wonderful stay here - lovely house so close to the village centre but at the same time we enjoy the peace as we were near the countryside
Boughton of course is heaven on a stick - brilliant to walk around first thing in the morning or late afternoon
Loved it!

“Traditional though modern house”
Reviewed 6 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

The house is located 2 minutes walk from the centre of Bourton on the water. It has a lovely garden but the best thing is its interior. For the first moment one does not know what to look at 
Our 3 boys shared a very spacious room on the third floor and our baby had a travel cot arranged in our room.
There was everything we needed. The house comes with private parking which is very useful. We enjoyed it very much!

“Beautiful cottage, so peaceful yet centrally located”
Reviewed 17 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We have just spent a wonderful week here. Bourton-on-the-water is very pretty and ideally located for exploring the Cotswolds. Middle Gable is the perfect place to stay. It is just a few minutes from the shops and good places to eat but is so peaceful and quiet, with lovely walks nearby as well. It is beautifully decorated and the owners are amazingly helpful. They both went out of their way to make sure that we had the best possible holiday. We would definitely choose to stay here again.
