“Quaint charm but all of the modern amenities we could have wished for”
Reviewed 25 February 2014 for a stay in December 2013

I stayed at Middle Gable in December with a group of friends having found the property on the Character Cottages website. The property was really lovely. Having been built in the 16th Century it oozed character and charm. Although an old building it was really cosy and warm partly due to the underfloor heating in the lounge and the open fire which we took full advantage of. The house was beautifully decorated and retained its quaint charm but had all of the modern amenities we could have wished for. The double garage meant that we could park our cars for the duration of our stay and make our way on foot as the centre of the village is only a 2 minute walk away.

There are numerous lovely cafes and pubs in the village or just a short drive away. We were looking to do some Christmas shopping and found the unique shops ideal for some unusual Christmas presents. The Christmas atmosphere in the village was lovely and the Christmas tree in the centre of the river was really special.

The arrangements for booking couldn’t have been easier. The owners were on hand for any queries and the neighbours Ann and Steve couldn’t have been more helpful too. We hope to return in December this year if we are lucky enough to get in.

“All we had hoped for and more”
Reviewed 15 February 2014 for a stay in February 2014

Our stay at Middle Gable can be summed up in just three words ... Superb, superb and of course ... superb.
The owners have thought of everything to ensure guests have every comfort
The country has suffered horrendous weather conditions this week, yet we have been so cosy in our home from home.
All in all a thoroughly enjoyable stay in what we can describe as our new favourite Cotswold holiday home

“This cottage has great character and comfort and served us well as a base to visit the Cotswolds and neighbouring sites.”
Reviewed 17 January 2014 for a stay in December 2013

The cottage has three levels with good views over gardens. It is well equipped and managed by the owners. The village is pretty as is the area.

“Wish we could live here”
Reviewed 29 October 2013 for a stay in September 2013

There were 5 of us and I wish I had a nickel for every time one of us said "isn't this perfect". There is a little table and chairs tucked at the back of the garden where you can enjoy a glass of wine and gaze at this beautiful building. The inside is almost as nice, very comfortable and very clean. The neighbors are also perfect. You would think that they would hate having a new set of neighbors every week, but they couldn't be more gracious. Ann even used her own phone to make us restaurant reservations. We would not think of staying anywhere else.

“3rd time at this amazing holiday home.”
Reviewed 14 October 2013 for a stay in October 2013

We have just returned from our 3rd trip to Middle Gable. As ever, the house was all you could want and more, for a relaxing and comfortable stay in Bourton on the Water.
This is a beautiful period home in a quiet, yet convenient location. The Accommodation is spacious and clean and the decor is in keeping with the age and style of the property. The four poster bed is a real luxury.
The new addition of wifi was very welcome.
We stay in Autumn or spring to take advantage of Bourton in it's quieter periods. There is no shortage of places to eat and there's a fabulous artisan baker just a few steps away from the property.
Chris and Kate, the owners, are very friendly, accommodating and helpful, as are the neighbours.
