“Beautiful little cottage - perfect for holiday stay”
Reviewed 30 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

We stayed in Chesterfield Cottage 4 days in the beginning of May and had the most pleasant holiday. I can really recommend to book it. The cottage is fully equipped - even with a washing machine. We also found a bbq, which can be used in the backyard, which is really sunny in the (late) afternoon and where we sat and relaxed after a day of walking. Just a few metres away from the cottage you will find several very good restaurants. The oven in the living room was already prepared when we arrived which was nice, as the first night became a bit chilly. But we just had to light the oven and it became cosy & warm very quick. We really might come back some day again!

“Comfortable and cosy”
Reviewed 21 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

We really enjoyed our week in Rye and the cottage was perfect for our needs. Good location for exploring the town and easy to walk to from the train station. It was quite cold when we arrived but it didn't take long to warm up when we got the heating and fire going. The most important thing for us was the nearby grassy area for walking the dog, only 2 mins walk away beside the petrol garage. We found a short cut by the Queens Head pub, small alley you can cut through.
The cafe on the quay at the bottom of the road does a great English breakfast.
Restaurant across the road is very nice (Thai)
The Ship and Ypres pubs allow dogs inside.

I'm so glad you enjoyed your time at the cottage. Rye's an amazingly dog friendly location and i'm sure yours had a great time exploring the local area as much as you did.

“Lovely cottage, centrally located, all you need for a great holiday.”
Reviewed 2 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Firstly Rye is a beautiful town, so staying anywhere in Rye would be a pleasure; however our cottage made our stay even better. The cottage itself is just what we expected; quaint, charming and with character. The living room was not large, but was ample for our family of three. The cottage was built many many years ago when people were obviously a bit shorter as the doorways, and ceiling, are lower than modern day builds, and the stairways are a little tight, but nothing that we did not expect. The kitchen was modern and had everything we needed and the main bedroom was perfect.
Parking in Rye was no problem, but we did travel around a fair bit, and the railway station is not far at all.
We would recommend this cottage strongly to anyone who is able to negotiate the stairs and we plan to revisit again in the future.

Liked best: Cleanliness and location
Liked least: One morning we could have done with a boost from the central heating as it was slightly chilly, we had a quick read of the manual, but we couldn't fathom out how to get it on; there is a log fire but we did not wish to light as it would been a waste.
