Recommended length of visit: 2-3 hours
Owner description: Our 2018 season started on 5 May. Pells Pool is the oldest documented freshwater public pool in the UK. We celebrated our 150th anniversary in 2011 and continue to welcome thousands to our unique pool in the summer months each year. The Pells Pool is a spring-fed pool - 46 metres long by 23 metres wide pool. There are facilities for the whole family to enjoy, from our tree-lined green lawn, sun terrace and exercise lane, to our children's paddling pool, floats and other recreational equipment. Come for the day and enjoy a picnic on the tree-lined lawn. We also serve hot and cold drinks, ice creams and a selection of cakes.

We have lived in Lewes for a number of years now, and embarrassed to say, we've never visited Pells pool until yesterday.
Nanny, myself (granddad), along with 17 year old uncle took our grandson for a swim.
It is hard to believe that once you step through the gateway at Pells the rest of the World shrinks away to nothingness and you are left with a large open air pool, a smaller very shallow paddling pool with grass and paved areas surrounding them, children and adults splashing around having fun, and an overwhelming sense of tranquillity.
The water is only heated by the sun, so it maybe a little cooler than you expect, but once you're in the water is lovely and clear, the lifeguards are all very attentive and the atmosphere is amazing.
Will we visit again? Try to stop us!

That's a lovely thing to hear! Pleased you've found us and that your family and your grandson enjoyed the visit. You description of the pool is just what we'd hoped to provide for people. We hope you enjoy your future visits just as much. With all best wishes from everyone at the Pells

I went with my family, my youngest son (2) enjoyed the kiddy pool. Yet my eldest daughter (13) struggled to breath whilst swimming in the deep end of the pool because it was so cold. Even I struggled. It is welcoming and the grass is usually clean. Great for kids parties and picnics.
