Nobody on reception when we arrived. Too many stairs without a lift. Beds creaked. Duvets flat and stiff. Windows thin. Rooms incredibly small. Bath with no taps. Thin walls. Is a extremely basic hotel. The only good thing is the view and location.

We are a family of 3 adults and booked into the Astral Lodge for one night. We chose this place because it would accommodate the three of us in one room and because of its sea front location. Our room was basic but clean and I was impressed with the en suite - I was expecting something quite tiny but it was of a very good size and recently refurbished. I would happily book here again if I was to return to Hastings.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view if you can

This is a lovely place to stay the only thing with this hotel is that the reception is not manned all night and you have to check in early and no restaurant but has some take aways near by and very close to town and on thr sea front if i visited hastings again i would like to stay there

I stayed here with my husband and son in May 2015 and it was a shambolic experience.
The room was dirty with cheap tacky furniture, it had an awful odour and we were given single bed sheets on a double bed with no covers. The reception was rarely manned so we couldn't complain or asked to be moved. The young girl seemed nice enough who worked there and the manager was just a voice from down below, we never saw him show his face once.

Really Really Bad. NEVER AGAIN!

Room Tip: Don't Bother

Booked a room at Astral Lodge for a weekend away after a busy time at work... We called the hotel just before we took the train to Hastings to explain we'd be arriving at around 11am with our bags to drop off, the young girl said this was fine.. She then called us back 30 minutes later to inform us this was not ok as there would be no-one there until 3pm, so we had to trudge around Hastings with our luggage for 4 hours. When we arrived we were informed there was no breakfast at the hotel (it doesn't state this on booking.com)... The location is good and there is free wi-fi but that's where the compliments end I'm afraid... Our room was on 2 floors but tiny, the furniture was the cheap rubbish you get from budget shops like Poundstrecher, and the bathroom had a urine odour.. The door to the balcony's lock was broken so had to take any valuables with us when we went out, as it is a shared balcony. The vertical blinds had seen better days to say the least... On our double bed we had 2 old single duvets (with no duvet covers on them) and no pillowcases, the table lamp resembled Terry Wogan's microphone on 1980's Blankety Blank..

Hastings is lovely, we'd definitely come back, but never again to this dive...

Room Tip: Stay away from Room 4......
