Some nice information boards, superb view and interesting for a brief visit. Rather expensive but part of a pleasant visit up the hill above Hastings in the fernicular lift.

Shame on the castle for not noting on its website that it’s cash only at the entrance. My husband and I went here Sunday late afternoon and the attendant had the audacity to blame us for coming later in the day and then not having cash. Once again terrible customer service in this country. Rather just read the free historical plaques on the path to the castle ruins and get great, free views on the adjacent hillside.

These are the remains of the original castle that was built in the time of William the Conqueror around 1000 years ago. There are various entry prices, the basic entry is just under £5 and allows you to just explore the ruins. You also get good views out to sea from the cliff tops here. You can reach the castle by riding the Funicular railway up the cliff face from George Street.

The entrance price is just under five pounds for an adult, this is expensive as the average visit time is 60 minutes, the castle is a ruin and is very interesting. There are great views over hastings.

Even though the castle is in ruins, it was still very interesting to see the castle that William the Conqueror built.
