Amsterdam Hotel Brighton

The room was comfortable without being spectacular. Unfortunately, it was next to the lift shaft, and so was very noisy until well into the night. As a result, got only a couple of hours sleep. I was booked in for two nights on a business trip and needed to sleep, so asked to move rooms. This, apparently, was not possible. After a lengthy conversation, I threatened to go to a different hotel. The manager didn't care, as he refused to refund my second night and said that I could go if I wanted. So I sacrificed my second night, booked in to a far better B&B which was £7.00 cheaper, and got a decent night's sleep.

Room Tip: Anywhere away from the lift.

Stayed at the Amsterdam Hotel in Brighton with my other half over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend in April 2017. We had a double bedroom.

The venue is located on the sea front, walking distance to almost everything you need - shops, night venues, restaurants, museums etc. In regards to price, it is reasonable and value for money. The hotel was clean, the staff seem to look after the facilities very well.

In regards to the room, our bed occupied the vast majority of the room with little space to navigate, however this was not as major issue as the bathroom light which kept going off whilst you were using the toilet as the light was activated through a sensor.

In terms of noice, the street beside our room was quite noisy, however, we expected that as it's right by the sea front and people are bound to be noisy getting back from a night out.

The complimentary continental breakfast was nice, but not filling enough. You had the option of cereals, croissants, toast, fruits and/or yogurts. I wish there was more choice like more pastries etc.

Another potential improvement would be better internet connection and speed in the rooms, as we were forced to use 4G instead of the WiFi, meaning we lost on our data. It was okay for us, but I imagine visitors from abroad would prefer to use the WiFi in the comfort of their own rooms.

Overall, the service was great and we look forward to return there again soon.

Booked in for 2 nights as pretty much the only affordable place with availability. So pleased we did. Very warmly welcomed and a lovely spacious room.. the wet room was a v pleasant surprise. We had a lovely sea view The only downside was the noise from outside and that's not the hotels fault. The weather was really warm and so needed the window open but was too noisy outside for that. Didn't have breakfast. The parking was ok, found a space within a few minutes walk and very reasonably priced. I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Chose this hotel as had stayed in others before and fancied a change....big mistake, after first night was considering booking in to another hotel. Ok it was the weekend when we arrived but nothing could prepare us for the night we endured...despite it being August we had to have the windows closed due to the thumping bass from the hotel and the club next door. Eventually it ended but seemed to go on forever...possibly a warning of what to expect from one of the many different people on reception at one time or another would have helped....i would suggest avoiding here at weekends if you want sleep.

Room Tip: Dont book at weekends...avoid!!!

If you like easy parking, quiet rooms, clean sheets, pubic hair free bathroom, room to move around the bed without banging your toes DONT stay here. The view was terrible and the walls paper thin, at least someone in the next room was enjoying themselves.
