I have stayed in many rural cottages over the years but have never met more charming, attentive and helpful hosts. The location is splendid and the home grown duck eggs, delicious.
The description of the place on here is complete and accurate so I do not need to repeat...all you need suffice to say.
Suffolk still retains the charm of England before modern life went and spoiled the show....go if you have never been and enjoy the peace, quiet, the lovely views and rural quintessentials.....but keep it special.
We had two weeks in Wheelwright's cottage in the grounds of the owners Peter and Doreen Gowan's property. Our cottage had everything to make us feel we were living there - including the resident hens and ducks. It was an idyllic place to stay. Kersey village - the most beautiful of the many super colourwash villages, for which Suffolk is known, was just a mile away with it's wonderful pub the Bell and all other famous villages were a short drive away. On our last night Peter kindly drove us to the Bell and picked us up later - what more could we ask! We hope to return in the near future.
A very well appointed converted barn in an idyllic location. The lounge is large with plenty of space for eating and lounging. Other facities are well planned with a high quality of provision. Location is good being within walking distance of the pictureque village of Kersey and a short drive to Lavenham and Hadleigh.
We found the hosts absolutely charming and welcoming. The property is in all respects one of the highest standards.
The location is in the middle of enchanting scenery and on the doorstep of some of the most characterful villages/ towns like Lavenham and Dedham as just two examples.
It was overall a most rewarding stay and one we will definitely repeat, soon I hope.
After initial difficulty in booking this cottage from New Zealand Peter couldn't have been more helpful. We found the cottage ideal for position, with off street parking and ease of access. the owners were very friendly and helpful and we were warmly welcomed. While the chickens did remind us we were in the heart of the Suffolk countryside they also provided us with delicious fresh eggs! The wifi was rather erratic - a little disappointing as we hoped to hear our grandchildren in New Zealand singing in a national competition via live streaming. All in all Wheelwrights cottage was a delightful week in our UK holiday..
