I ended up in this hotel as a result of being snowbound in Sherborne. It was a perfect oasis - beautifully warm and clean. It is within walking distance of the train station and the centre of the town. It has the feeling of being in an Agatha Christie novel!

Dear pinkmonkeymagic,

Thank you for your review. We did have a number of guests stranded at the hotel during this period of heavy snow as well as a train load of passengers who had broken down in Sherborne station late one evening. We look forward to welcoming you back again to experience the lovely sunny summer weather instead! Although, Sherborne does look beautiful in the snow!

The Eastbury Hotel offered outstanding service with a timeless relaxed atmosphere, the room was well furnished with a large bathroom. The hotel is well positioned to give easy access to the centre of Sherborne. The restaurant in the hotel provided a marvellous seven-course taster menu of mostly local produce. we highly recommend the Eastbury we will be returning.

Just back from a very comfortable stay at The Eastburn. Rooms are very spacious and comfortable. Lots of space and a lovely bathroom.
The tasting menu was delightful with a medley of different flavours and mixes of crunch and smooth!
Every course was good.Carpaccio of Dorset Lamb, Vale of Camelot Cheese Brûlée, Devon Crab, Thyme & Garlic Roast Chicken and Valrhona Chocolate Cremeux were all a delight.
The dining room is a little tired....a table cloth would hide the old tables and some chairs need replacing but a new owner will I’m sure make the necessary changes. The staff are excellent and really helpful. Wasn’t overly keen on the Sherborne Castle wines.....
Make sure you walk down to The Abbey....
Only 5 minutes away and impressive from the outside but stunning inside!

We have stayed at The Eastbury three times before but this time was a little unusual. We took good friends with us, it was Valentines Day and it was the first day of new ownership (a fact we didn't know when we booked).
We were not disappointed! I had called in advance to ask if we could have rooms near one another - we were allocated Tamarix and Rowan. These two rooms share a staircase and main front door so we felt like we were in our own little world. Beautiful rooms they were too! I had also advised the hotel that one of our guests was vegan and we were delighted by the effort that the staff in the restaurant made to ensure that our friend had just as special a meal as the rest of us had. The waitress, Crystal, whom we have met before was just as efficient, polite and friendly as she has been in the past - she is a real asset. I hope that the new owners recognise what a gem they have in The Eastbury and its staff and don't try to change too much

Dear M_A_Statter,

Thank you for your great feedback which has been passed on to the team and in particular to Krystal in the restaurant. You will be pleased to hear that the new owners do recognize the gem they have in The Eastbury and although they have big plans for the future with new rooms and spa on the horizon and redecoration currently taking place, the foundations will remain very much the same. On behalf of The Eastbury team, we look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Booked an Indulgent Afternoon Tea for 4 to celebrate my Mothers 85 birthday. We were very underwhelmed. The sandwiches were from a pack (all stuck together) with the majority being cheese and pickle! The presentation on the cake stands was poor and the waiter was very inattentive and given that we were the only party in the restaurant this should not have been the case. In fact he spent most of the time cleaning if the wafting smell of bleach was anything to go by. When asked for another pot of tea, he just put hot water into the already spent tea leaves. For an hotel of this quality it was a very disappointing afternoon. I Will not be recommending it.

Dear Jo T,

My name is Steven and I am the new General Manager of The Eastbury Hotel. I am sorry to learn of your visit earlier this year for afternoon tea and the underwhelming experience which was clearly not to our usual high standard. I can confirm that our sandwiches are definitely not from a pack and are freshly made daily but since your visit our staff have undergone additional training to ensure that these type of issues do not happen again. As you may know, the hotel changed ownership on the 13th February and we are now under the watchful guise of the de Savary family. Please contact me directly on spoole@theeastburyhotel.co.uk and I would love to invite you back to show you that this was a rare occurrence and not to the level of our usual high standard in which we pride ourselves on.
