Small but well equipped property in an interesting location. Just right for a small family (partner and baby).

“Have experienced better value.”
Reviewed 22 October 2016 for a stay in October 2016

Garden Cottage is much as described in Trip Adviser. We arrived straight from a one week stay in a luxury 5 bedroomed house in SW Cornwall and comparatively Garden Cottage was humble and small however its pro-rata price was comparable.
The cottage is set at the back of the owner’s house with a pleasant outlook over its small neat garden.
Entering the yard from the road is very tight for a family size saloon car, setting off our radar proximity warnings on 4 sides however once in the parking area it is private and secure with enough room to manoeuvre a 180 degrees turnaround.
The living area was small but cosy with a good flame effect electric fire and a decent T.V. having part Sky subscription, also Wi-Fi. An abundant library of local maps and indexed relevant reading matter was a good touch and I liked this.
Everywhere was clean and tidy.
The kitchen was small neat and clean but rather tired looking from the 80’s.
The bathroom was small clean and tidy with a clean modern shower but more of a drizzle with regards to water pressure. Ladies with lots of hair allow extra time for rinsing. No shaving socket but an excellent electric towel rail and always plenty of hot water.
The bedroom was small with a double bed which was OK. No dressing table or mirror for the ladies.
The optional second bedroom in the conservatory was rather depressing. Single glazing and thin curtains over all sides made for extremely cold air at night so on colder nights would be even worse.
Would we stay there again? No, however if you are a couple looking for a small cottage in historic Tolpuddle then Garden Cottage may be worth considering.

Thank you for staying in our humble little cottage and taking the time to write your lengthy review. We always try to take on board guests's comments and since you left without any comment as guests usually do we assumed everything was OK. You are obviously used to luxury holiday accommodation so I can see why some aspects of the cottage might disappoint you. However you mention many of the plus points which other guests also list in their very positive, mostly five star reviews.
Thanks again.

Thanks for your very positive review. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay despite the renovations across the road which as you say were beyond our control.

“ideally placed for visiting west Dorset”
Reviewed 26 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

Comfortable, clean and quiet. There is so much to see in the area with a tremendous amount of information in the cottage. We hope to return to see more of Dorset next year.

“Superb location”
Reviewed 14 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Ideal for touring Dorset. Set in peaceful Tolpuddle. Fully equipped, clean, spacious and very comfortable. Set back from main road so nice & peaceful, yet just 2 minute walk to local pub for really good food and beer. No local grocery shop but nearest just 10 mins away in Puddletown.
