“A Real Home from Home”
Reviewed 25 May 2016 for a stay in April 2016

We have stayed in many cottages and lodges throughout the UK and West Lane Cottage is definitely in our Top 2. It is warm, cosy and comfortable, has the best stocked kitchen ever and an amazing power shower! The bridal path next to the cottage was ideal for taking the dog for an early walk each day. A great base to explore Dorset and a wonderful home to come back to at the end of each day. We thoroughly recommend it.

Liked best: The power shower in the en suite!

Thank you for your lovely review of West Lane Cottage. We have just had the new shower put in and it seems to be going down well with guests so that is great! We too love being able to walk from the cottage along the bridle path and choose from the variety of routes, including the one to the Thimble Inn! I know that you felt the cottage to be a "home from home" and we hope to hear from you again.

“Wonderful!”
Reviewed 19 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Well-position in a charming little village, West Lane cottage provides all you could wish for in a holiday let. Everything is very well thought through to keep the whole family happy whatever the weather. The comprehensive inventory includes plenty of local reading matter, maps, walking guides, boardgames and information. There's TV and wifi and a very well-equipped kitchen should you wish to eat in (although the recommended pubs nearby serve excellent meals). Comfortable beds – two singles in one room, a double in the other. Two bathrooms upstairs, one with a blissfully powerful shower. Everything was clean and tidy. We were particularly pleased that the cottage was dog-friendly, with a secure back garden. All in all, we had a most enjoyable stay – thank you!

We are grateful to you for taking the time and trouble to review your stay at West lane Cottage. I think you have just about covered the things that future holidaymakers would like to know before booking. We are just looking for a holiday ourselves in the North East and finding it very difficult to find a well equipped lovely cottage with wi-fi and that is dog friendly with a safe garden. We provide all of these plus a second reception room - always good to have more space!

“Really lovely and cosy cottage, very comfortable”

It was exactly as shown on the website. Many attractions in the area were easy to reach. For dog owners very suitable, we felt very welcome.
Highly recommended!!!

“What a Gem”
Reviewed 27 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

We found this cottage on owners direct, we couldn't decide between this cottage or another one (which turned that they were both owned by the same person!). We went with this cottage after speaking with the owner who was very friendly and helpful. Prior to arrival we received useful emails of what is on in the area, how to find the cottage and useful tips.

When we arrived we couldn't believe the impeccable standards. There were numerous little touches that we didn't expect, for example 1pint of milk in the fridge and some biscuits. The cottages is EXTREMELY well equipped, (better than our own house). There were a number of useful books (where to eat, where to go, what to do).

Overall, we had a very memorable holiday thanks to this beautiful cottage, the way it is finished, the location, the local pub and the owner. Thanks to all.

Recommend to anyone - just remember to take a torch, as this unspoilt location is fantastic for star gazing in the night.

Thanks for your kind words here and we are so glad you enjoyed the cottage and the location. The point about the stars is a good one: due to its rural location, Piddlehinton suffers from very little light pollution and we have seen some fabulous shows in the sky - lovely to sit and watch on a warm evening! You are not the first to debate between West Lane Cottage and our other in Tolupddle, Wren Cottage - they each have their merits but I have to say that I prefer this one because we love to walk from the door (not only to the Thimble Inn but also to the lovely countryside on the doorstop).

We hope to hear from you again sometime!

It was so kind of you to email me when you got home and tell me where you had been and how much you had enjoyed the cottage - it made my day! We hope that the location of West Lane Cottages enables visitors to enjoy both the beautiful Piddle Valley (an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) and also to visit the coast, which is a great place to let the dogs run at this time of year. We have taken care to equip the cottage to a high standard having stayed at various places with squishy sofas, unsupportive beds, blunt knives etc ourselves over the years. We believe that a "self-catering" cottage ought to supply all that you need to do just that - cook (and bake!) although there are so many fabulous places to eat on the doorstep (as you discovered) - The Thimble Inn, Blue Vinny, and Greyhound to name but three that you visited - it is tempting to eat out all the time! Perhaps you will return and carry on exploring the area?
