Visited this museum after a recent trip to the county museum (which was free) to see Dippy the dinosaur exhibit. We were surprised at the cost of the Tutankhamen museum for a family! Only 3 subsequently went in. Service very slow and then noticed an additional cost to see the mummy exhibit upstairs. Opted for the mummy exhibit as had a feeling the museum would be a let down. Mummy museum was very small! Not even 15mins. A real waste of money - sorry

We really enjoyed the whole thing, our daughters are 11 and 9 and were fascinated. I agree with others that the price was too much, but still really interesting.

Like others I considered the entrance fee too high with no concessions for seniors. Having said that there is a lot of reading to do and Egyptian history to absorb. Not sure if a reduction in entry fee would encourage more visitors - certainly very few attending on a cold March Tuesday. Also the extra fee to go up to the mummification exhibits was steep both in money and the staircase - not suitable for disabled visitors. Quite gruesome for the faint hearted. I personally found the exhibition most interesting but can understand why others were disappointed. Be prepared to part with over £20 for an hour or so inside.

Spend some time researching ancient Egypt with your kids, then make some models. You will save yourself a whole lot of dosh. This exhibition is a real ripoff (most things are replicas). Despite being in the same building, they actually charge you twice - once for the exhibition, then to go upstairs and see the mummies. These five attractions appear to be run by some mean, money pinching little business who want to get as much of your money as they can, without really providing you with much. We would all be better off investing in proper, state run museums which are being undermined by private enterprises like this.
