Stopped off in Totnes planning on a quick lunch. Think we have spotted this cafe before but allowed ourselves to be put off by the vegan signs.
We should come here before! For a start the menu is not entirely vegan.
When I saw the option of a gluten free pork, sage and onion pie on the specials board I abandoned the idea of a small lunch. The pastry was much better than most GF offerings and the filling was very tasty.
My wife chose Eggs Royale which to her taste were a little undercooked but still really good.
Some slices of cake were then purchased to take away!

Only visit Totnes a couple of times a year, but hadn't noticed this cafe before, don't know why as this time it drew us in. Neither of us are vegan nor gluten intolerant, but like vegetarian food, especially when it is different (shows a lot of thought gone into the menu) and so tasty. The quiches and salads we had were yummy (I had a meat based one with chorizo, partner a vegetarian one). Not supposed to have cakes (all that sugar!), but we did indulge and have to say the signature Tunisian Almond and Orange Cake blew us away. What flavour - worth the carbs!

This little delivery/café is an absolutely great place to meet for food and a drink. The range of food covers gluten free (most items), vegetarian and vegan. As a Coeliac I can never walk into a cafe/restaurant and have a choice of every item on the menu. Here you can, all prepared fresh on the premises by very obliging and helpful staff and it's family run too. Go if you can, you won't regret it.

Thank John H

It's so hard to find delicious Vegan food prepared by independent retailers. Totnes is the place to come but The Wild Fig has to be the best yet. I just had a most delicious Vegan Quiche...first one ever with an amazing salad. They also cater for all other diets including GF and Meat Eaters.

A lovely little place. My only complaint would be having to go outside and down the alley to use the tiny toilet. Not ideal if you are over weight and certainly no good for the disabled. That's a shame.

Please can you open up a shop in Plymouth?!!!

Dear Sarah

Thanks so much for your 5* review, it is always appreciated. Although we specialise in Vegan and Gluten Free options, we don't exclude the meateaters, so hopefully everyone is kept happy!...as for the toilet, it is not our best feature, we know. The access is not ideal and the space is very limited. Maybe our new place in Plymouth can offer better facilities?!

What a treat, sitting in the sunny window in The Wild Fig today, enjoying a wonderful vegan lunch! Asparagus and tofu quiche, squash curry, roasted vegetable salad and a choice of tempting cakes - all expertly prepared and utterly delicious!

Dear GoingtoBarbados

We make everything we serve from scratch, and although not all the team are Vegan, n'or Gluten Free, we all enjoy everything we make as we believe good food is essential regardless of any dietary restrictions. Hopefully you will find some yummy Vegan food in Barbados?....do let us know!
