“terrible place”

on arrival of getting into the property after our journey we was looing forwards to something to eat - the fist this we found was dirty greasy trays left in oven with grease ad food debris - I had to wash up before we could cook any food. damp sticky old stale coffee left in jar not cleaned out.
my partner tuned on TV then this was not working (making us this this property was not even checked before we arrive or cleaned for that matter) the TV continued to freeze though out our stay - as we continued to look around we fiound thick cob webs in windows and in upstairs toilet on celling and around wall light, black hair in sink- our suspicions now highly raised that this property had not been cleaned at all - as we continued to look around found dirty marks on the bed sheet and edges of carpet up stairs thick with dust .
there was also no hair drier to use this in a supposedly 4 star property should be a standard every day item - THIS PROPERTY IN MY OPPINION IS NOT A 4 **** STANDARED MORE LIKE 2 **
outside this unkempt dirty standards seam to continue with sand castle children's buckets just scattered in the corner of court yard large dog fesses in the garden was uncut grass plant pots with weeds in them - WEEDS GRASS GROWING THROUGH SLABS.

Parking access was horrendous turning in to drive very difficult due to being unable to drive directly in. my partner damage his van on the low jagged wall which looks like its just been hit with a lump hammer and not finished to an expectable finish- and trying to gain access is now is faced with a large repair bill).
We did not stay the full team of our booking as we felt so upset an discussed with the standards at this property.
in my final note all property face each other and there was no privacy as each property could see into every ones window so curtain had to be closed at all times - all the other guests seam to follow this action.

We was so looking forward to this Christmas break only to have our Christmas totally ruined

“Dog friendly cottage”

We booked this cottage for 4 nights based on it being 'dog-friendly'. We were met by Martin the owner, and although we only spoke to him again on departure appeared very friendly. What I liked about the cottage is that it is very conveniently situated with shops, a dog-friendly pub and take-away all within a few minutes walk. A host of information is provided in the cottage (local walks, eating in/out and places of interest). There is on-site parking but it is limited, larger vehicles could find it a bit tight. The complimentary bottle of wine and chocolate cake was a very nice touch and appreciated. On the downside the kitchen is showing signs of general wear and tear and the draught from the window was awful, despite having the curtains closed. Hanging space in the bedroom is limited to a couple of hooks fixed to the wall although there are two sets of bedside drawers. There were cobwebs in the bedroom and a thick layer of dust on the bedside lamps & radiator. The bath appeared dirty until I realised it was marked/damaged. Making the bed I noticed the mattress was ripped and stained, a mattress protector had been fitted, presumably at a later date as this was unmarked. We cut short our stay as my husband was waiting to go into hospital and received a call asking if he could attend the following day. As we had a long drive ahead we decided to leave straight away so once the dogs and luggage were loaded in the car I went to return the key. Although eager to get on our way Martin was very keen that I complete their questionnaire. Feeling rather 'put on the spot' I hurriedly ticked the boxes without much thought, added a quick 'thank you' and handed it back. Overall this is a nice quirky cottage but not what I would describe as luxurious as it does require some attention paying to the general cleanliness & maintenance of the property.

Many thanks for providing us with your comments following your stay and we are delighted that there were aspects of the property that you were pleased with.

The quality and cleanliness of our properties is of utmost importance to us and having liaised with the property owner, we can confirm that the mattresses have been replaced. Unfortunately, due to a storm some minor damage was caused to the window causing the draught, however, we would always ask guests to report any damage or maintenance issues during their stay as the owner would have been more than happy to attend the property to carry out the repair. This issue has also been rectified for any future guests.

Sweet Rose is a popular property of ours and we have a number of reviews displayed on our website where the property has scored highly for cleanliness. We apologise that you feel that there were areas that needed improvement during your stay, and we feel confident that any small issues experienced were isolated.
