We stayed for a week in may, house very spacious, room for 4 adults, 2 kids and a dog! Rooms very clean, lots of useful equipment buckets spades beach mats etc great location close to harbour and beeches. Space for car on drive I got my Renault scenic on and space on main road. Plenty of games and dvds to play with. Great shower! The owners of this property are very easy to get hold of, helpful, produced a great guide about the house and made us feel very welcome. This property is definitely worth visiting.

“Lovely house perfectly situated close to harbour”

Lovely property very conveniently situated close to the harbour, shops and restaurants. Everything in there you need, good internet and wifi service. The extras that the owners left available to use was great, eg the sauces and condiments. The only thing that we found a bit awkward was parking in the drive but of course the car could have been left on the road outside the property. Thank you once again we had a lovely time.

“Very Homely with lot of character”
Reviewed 27 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

We are a family of three and stayed in Rowell house for 4 nights. The house is a period building with lots of character which the owners have lovingly restored and put in some very nice touches like the paintings, throws and rugs, small additions in the kitchen, and lots of toys/games etc all of which made us feel very much at home. The house was very snug and comfortable. Initially it felt a little cold but after adjusting the heating it was very comfortable. The kitchen was modern but with lots of period features and there were lots of personalised loving restorations visible throughout which showed us that the owners were very fond and proud of the house - it was almost as if we were swapping homes with them, except that they didnt stay at our place!
The balcony sit out leading from the small second bedroom was unique and delightful. The arrangements for key collection, rubbish collection etc were very good, and the owners were very helpful in enabling us to get the best out of our short holiday. The surrounding roads were very pleasant though slightly hilly, but this enabled us to go for runs and long walks - great exercise with sunshine and the sea breeze - felt wonderful.

Overall a very enjoyable stay. Particularly commendable was the booklet that they have put together about the property and the surroundings and emailed us a few weeks before our stay. This enabled us to plan items to bring and the days out well in advance.

Liked best: It was a lovely personalised home away from home
Liked least: Having to put tickets for the car every morning and just avoiding being ticketed by the council inspector

“Nice place but not the great place we expected”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Rowell House is well situated near the harbor of Torquay and close to a nummer of nice restaurants. The street is quit steep but that an opinion of someone from the Lowlands. The house had on site parking which unfortunatly leaves little space to get on the front patio (the only outside space). The house itself is spacious enough to accommodate 4 adults. The matress of the bed in the front bedroom had a v-shape but we put a blanket underneath it in the middle to solve this. The toilet upstairs is tight but the bathroom downstairs gives enough room. As this is an old house ventilation is key, and this is difficult in this house especially downstairs when you are not at home. Therefor I found the house a bit damped and sombre.and too much dirt between the windows. Overall a nice place but not the great place we expected even though we are used to live in an old house.
