Just back from a quick trip to visit family. We have 3 small children so booked a suite through booking.com.
On check in we were advised Booking.com do not add children so we had to pay £25 charge for two of the children (new born was free) after 10 minutes of arguing the toss I reluctantly paid taking the room charge to £300 for one night.
We had a number of issues with the room from there on in.. An army of flies had descended on the room, the smoke detector in the kids room was flashing all night, we had to cover a wall light at the side of our bed as that was flashing all night, no tea or milk available and had to ring down however the biggest was no heating! We woke up freezing and had maintenance in the room bleeding radiators at 6:30am. With no success they returned at 7am with one plug in heater for the lounge.

Breakfast was great and the restaurant staff were also great.

How I’ve rated this stay.. 2 stars max for the stay. I was tempted to give only one. The other two of for the masterclass of customer care on check out.

I did not get the duty managers name however he started a little defensive but then when we discussed the experience in detail his response and actions were brilliant.

Would I return again... Yes... due to professionalism of the duty manager who ensured a sleepless family left with a smile.

An expensive, extremely disappointing night however the heating will not always be broke and the other items will be resolved with ease

Had our amazing wedding day here in August! From planning to the actual day our wedding planner Lauren cooke was just amazing. The day itself I really couldn't of asked for anything more! The food was absolutely delicious all our guests thought so too. The day ran so smoothly all staff did a great job. I honestly want to do it all over again. Anyone looking to get married at the grand do it! You will not be disappointed we will be visiting soon!

Lovely hotel with pleasant staff. Beautiful room with big comfy bed and tastefully decorated ensuit. Parking a bit awkward but plenty of spaces. Would have given it 5 stars but for the inability to get a hot decaffeinated drink late on a cold nite and being served cold coffee with breakfast. Coffee was changed on request but there was no more milk or clean cups. That's just life sometimes.

We stayed her in Oct as part of a group of friends, we booked 3 small double rooms about 3 weeks in advance. When arriving at the hotel the price we were given at the reception was approx. £30 more then we had booked at..this was resolved after about 1/2 hr and all went well from there. Having said that we looked up the price again on line that day and the price had dropped again..but that is just a late availability thing I think.
The hotel is what you would expect for a 4* good facilities aby a but in need of an update in places, it was ideak for the bed and breakfast we required but not somewhere to go if on a budget.

Room tip: The cheaper rooms seem not to have a view and may get noise from the nearby railway station

Wow what a hotel there is absolutely nothing to say except excellent. The staff are so very friendly and nothing is too much trouble Jemma the Front of House manager is exceptional at her job a real credit to the hotel. We are in the hotels restaurant for our evening meal which was wonderful the service we received was fantastic the food cooked to perfection and our odd dietary needs met without hesitation a credit to the chef. The breakfast was self service with staff on hand to assist when required the food was hot and cooked to requirements. Overall I would definitely stay here again. Well done to all staff you are a credit to the hotel.
