“Excellent Apartment with character”
Reviewed 3 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We stayed for two weeks in this apartment in a turret at the top of the hotel. Spectacular views from the balcony across the Bristol Channel to Wales. The apartment and hotel as a whole have the character of an old country house. The antiques and furnishings give it much more appeal than a modern apartment, although they are shabby in places. However the flat was clean and tidy.

As advertised, the stairs up are very steep so not suitable if you have mobility issues. The kitchen is small so don't hope to cook big meals there! TV reception is variable - but a good reason to turn it off and enjoy the views and visit Lynton and Lynmouth.

“Lovely Spacious and peaceful apartment with fantastic views, just a short walk to town”

My wife and I had a lovely week here. The villa is full of olde worlde charm on the coastal walk and up the hill from lynmouth. The beds were comfortable and the shower was great! The kitchen although small had a full hob, oven and a microwave. There was a nescafe dolce gusto coffee machine which makes great coffee. The TV was a bit liable to signal fade but mostly was fine. The wifi was ok and we managed to stay in touch.

We walked to the valley of rocks a couple of times and down to lynmouth to the rising Sun a few times but we got the lift up!

Overall a great place to stay and explore north devon.

“Fantastic views, spacious and comfortable apartment, relaxation!”
Reviewed 20 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

The Turret apartment at Hewitts - Villa Spaldi is a spacious and comfortable apartment in a large Victorian building with an impressive entrance hall, located on the edge of Lynton next to the coast path with fantastic sea views. The living room is spacious with a large TV, DVD player, CD player etc and Wi-fi. There is a balcony where we sat and ate while enjoying the sea views over the gardens, listening to birds and owls at night (bliss). There is a kitchenette with cooker, microwave and coffee maker with coffee pods supplied (with Belgian chocolates as an extra treat). The master bedroom is tastefully furnished complimenting the age of the property with a marvellous carved wooden bedstead. The bathroom is hotel standard with toiletries, bathrobes and towels provided, along with a Whirlpool bath (very nice). I booked our break over the telephone with ease and found the owner to be polite, friendly and helpful but also unobtrusive during our stay. We could have explored the large gardens but hope to do that on our next visit.

The apartment is lovely and the owners are extremely helpful. It is very conveniently placed - right by the coastal path, so easy for walking. And less than 5 mins walk into Lynton. You can also walk down to the sea at Lynmouth through the gardens in about 10 mins (longer coming back uphill!). There are fantastic views over the sea from the apartment.
I had a wonderful week; very peaceful. It is quirky and different - I loved it!
