“Best kept secret”
Reviewed 15 April 2017 for a stay in April 2017

What a Cornish gem. I've been visiting St Ives for 20 years now. Same Easter week each time. Like I hear the locals say it's changing every year. Bigger shops, more holiday homes and less time allowed on the beach with the dog. I don't visit because I want a boutique holiday, I visit because it's beautiful and my family and pets have grown up there and this year I've stumbled on a unique gem.
Southern comfort has a TV but you don't need it, there's plenty of books to be read if you can't get out of the cottage. A cupboard full of games brings the family together following a long walk along the dog beaches to Lelant. Fire roaring, sat in a rustic property is all you need to clear your mind. You don't and shouldn't want boutique all the time. It's a waste of money. Loving touches of somebody's home show they're proud of it and want you to share its beauty.
My dog settled immediately and that's good enough for me.
Well done Anne Winters for maintaining a hidden gem of a property against all the new age pressures of building an electronic fortress, you deserve to be in St Ives forever and we can't wait to join you again.

“Relaxation in a charming setting.”
Reviewed 27 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

The cottage is beautiful. Very tastefully and sympathetically furnished and decorated. Very well equipped. Easy to want to never leave. Teenage boys loved their room. Seagulls can be noisy! Very well placed for the harbour and beaches. Can't wait to return.

“Home from home”

My partner and I booked Southern Comfort for a birthday hideaway in November 2012, and have been back every year since!
Southern Comfort really is a home from home... the kitchen is fully furnished with all you would need in your own home, the house is near to a very reasonably priced car park (The Island), not even a minute walk to the seafront, and there is plenty in the house to entertain you and the family if the weather isn't great!
The wood burner is our favourite feature in the house, but isn't neccessary in the winter as the heating is fantastic.
The bed is comfortable and the children's bedroom is so lovely and well decorated.

The owner Anne is always very helpful and you can tell that the house is well loved.

We can't wait to come back!

“Great cottage right in the heart of St Ives”

We stayed in Southern Comfort for a week with our two small children and it was just perfect.. The cottage itself is ideally located in Downalong in the heart of St Ives being only seconds from Porthmeor beach, the fore street shops and restaurants and the harbour.

The cottage itself is tastefully decorated, cosy and a very comfortable place to land after a day on the beach and the rock pools. We would definitely book Southern comfort again when we next visit St Ives.
