we stayed at the guest house in August and did not have the feeling of a guest. it was a pity. The breakfast was good and the shower also. The room was a little cramped.Although there was a parking place it was easy to be blocked in.More a b and b factory.

Stayed this weekend. It's in a fantastic place ! Literally 3 mins walk down hill to town and beach. I didn't realise how close Fistral beach was either until we got there and was only 10 minute walk.
Warm welcome, Bridie is a really lovely lady. Room was very clean and spacious. We had a sea view and was definitely worth it, it's a gorgeous view!
Hairdryer, TV, tea coffee facilities, free wifi.
Breakfast in the morning lots of choice :)
Parking round the back, cars get blocked in by other guests but keys are kept inside if they need moving.

Overall had a great weekend!!

2nd time we have stayed here when visiting Newquay and still a great little B&B. Bridie is a lovely host and the rooms are spotless. Hotel is a great location and the breakfast whatever you order is great. Relaxed B&B in a great location.

We find British accommodations generally more expensive for similar quality than those on the continent. My reviews are not country specific, but based on my total experience.
Our navigation system took us directly to the front door. Tir Chonaill is on a moderately trafficked street that runs through the city. It is within 1 km of the city center, but with a moderately steep hill in-between.
The first impression is not a positive one. The house begins one car-length from the roadway. There are two parking spaces there and a third for unloading. Be careful entering the building as there is a raised strip that tripped me each day. Inside, the living area of the owners and that of the guests is not initially obvious.
We were greeted by Tara, the daughter of Bridie, the owner. Tara toted our bags up the steep narrow stairs. Our room was quite large and contained two twin beds in addition to our double bed. The hotel appears to be organized to allow packing large groups into every available space. That is NOT the way we travel. As a result, the rooms have a utilitarian look rather than a comfortable or cozy look.
We were lucky with parking and got one of the two front spots each time we returned. The remainder of the parking for the 8 rooms is in the rear and consists of 2 more very deep spots for the remaining 6 cars to park one behind another. That meant jockeying cars in the narrow space if you were unlucky to be an early or late riser. That alone makes the hotel unsatisfactory for most driving guests. looked like it would be a problem, but we always found a spot within 150 meters of the front door.
Our room was bright, clean and comfortable. I am not sure any room has a beautiful view, but front rooms overlook the street while the rear rooms overlook the quieter alley. The room had free WiFi (with a strong enough signal for our holiday needs) and an adequate number of electrical sockets. We used a spare bed for our suitcases. As in all of our accommodations over these two weeks, we found the mattresses too soft and the pillows too hard.
The bathroom was relatively modern but the toiletries sparse beyond soap and shampoo. Towels were new or nearly so. The bathroom fan was rather loud. A hair drier was found in a drawer (British law prohibits them in the bath room, I am told). All of the electrical switches are by the room door - including the bathroom light/fan switch. This setup strongly suggests the work of an amateur electrician. That is not a confidence builder.
The breakfast offered was English. We do not eat the sausage or beans and found the fried eggs on the greasy side. There was fresh fruit sometimes but not many other items on the counter, except children's cereals and some sort of shredded biscuit. The coffee was hot and not always enough. The breakfast was among the worst we had.

Room Tip: Back rooms are probably quieter
