The service in this hotel was excellent. Reception staff were professional, friendly and helpful. Good, quiet location just 5 minutes walk from centre. Breakfast meal nothing to write home about but served in nice, intimate atmosphere. Restaurant staff also very good. Rooms fine.

Room, food and staff were excellent. This Hotel gives great value for money especialy regarding food and beer prices the standards of both which are excellent also. Leaisure facilities also excellent, tidy and clean. If I were to really be picky I guess you could say the precise location of the Hotel is not great regarding the acsetic of it but it is only between 5 & 10mins walk to centre of town. Also as someone else has commented the choice at buffet breakfast is possibly more limited than many hotels. Saying that I would say these are minor negligable issues. When we stayed the Hotel was fully booked and we had no issues regarding standard of service regarding any part of our stay and would thoroughly recommend staying at this Hotel to anyone.

What a disappointment! Initial impression of the hotel from the exterior was only confirmed as we entered. Emergency external repairs are unavoidable but the interior was tardy and very dated. The bedrooms were of poor quality with mixer taps loose in the bath and bulbs missing from the vanity mirror. Other mirrors were positioned away from any lights and the 'double' bed the size of a postage stamp. The evening meal was acceptable but the entertainment was poor. Guests are advised to come to breakfast earlier at weekends and as we arrived at 8.30 and breakfast is served till 10am I didn't expect to have to queue for what can only be described as a motorway service breakfast. The only positive experience of my stay was the fact that the majority of staff were friendly and helpful. Certainly won't be booking again.

Room tip: Book elsewhere

I have just spent 2 nights at the Mill Hotel on a "girlie 50th weekend". The hotel is in a great location just a few minutes stroll into the city centre, which is great for shopping, bars and restaurants.
My friend and I were allocated a twin room on the 2nd floor in the older part of the hotel. Although the room was comfortable and clean, the layout and design of the room for 2 women especially, trying to get ready was difficult. There was a dressing table, but no mirror above it or plugs? There was a small mirror on the opposite wall where you had to prop yourself half on the bed to see into it to dry your hair. There was only one other plug socket in the room by the side of the bed but again no mirror so pretty difficult all round.
Breakfast was organised chaos. We turned up around 8.45am to be put on a waiting list and told to wait in the reception area until we were called. This took around 15 minutes. It was hot in the dining room and with the amount of people in there made it quite uncomfortable. There was a selection of tinned fruits (fresh melon, and whole pieces of fresh fruit), cereal and a cooked breakfast station which I didnt eat from so I cant comment on that - toast and croissants. We spent one of the nights at the Christmas Party night which I though was good. The service from the staff was very good and the food was fresh, hot and plentiful. The carpet throughout the hotel was very tired. I didnt use the leisure facilities, but went to have a look round and all looked clean and nice. The staff we encountered throughout our stay were all very pleasant and helpful. I wouldn't personally choose to stay in this hotel again.

Awful, very dated hotel. We stayed for the Christmas event and it started badly on arrival as we struggled to get onto the car park. The meal was ok but the atmosphere was terrible as was the DJ and we felt as though we had been transported back to a low grade 1980's wedding party.

The room was ok but noisy due to its proximity to the road, breakfast was a disaster with the restaurant unable to cope with the volume of guests. We had to wait nearly 30 minutes to be seated then queue again for poor quality, badly prepared food.

The positives were the reasonable bar prices and a good selection of beers in the real ale bar and the hotel is well placed in relation to the centre of Chester.

We will not be staying here again.
