Stradling the canal this hotel has many facilities, including a good sized pool. We dined here one evening in the Canaletto Restaurant, and the food and service was excellent. Our three night 'deal' was good value as it included the above meal on one evening.
Parking was free and on site. A spa and hair salon is on site, along with a gym and cafe complex. Weekends here are busy and sometimes lively thanks to hen night etc. A 5 minute walk to the main shopping centre easy.
Would stay here again and recommend to others unless they want a very quiet weekend.

Second stay here came about 2 years ago for 1 night but stayed for 3 nights this time over easter with wife for relaxing "get away from it all break" and that's exactly what it was. Got a good deal on premium room and Dinner on first night and B&B.
Dinner on first evening very nice duck gorgeous and "two soups" were lovely. Room was very nice depsite journey to get there in old lift that stopped at your floor if you were lucky!
The only thing in room a bit weird i thought was tv was on wall but opposite sofa not bed so if you laid in bed to watch tv you got a bit of a crick neck !! TV did slide but not far enough !
Hotel ideal spot for town and parking provided so no extra costs for city parking. Our trip coincided with Food and Drink festival at Race course so we wandered down on the Saturday (about 10 minutes walk) and this was great lots of sample food to try and lovely smells from the food outlets couldn't decide what to eat for lunch and lots for the kids to do so may bring them next time. Boat trip on Sunday up the Dee not really very long though 15 minutes each way not really worth it for what you saw.
Hotel breakfast very good we missed the rush each morning by getting down a bit earlier on the sunday not really any good if you want a lie in !!!! Really need to do something about buffet area as it is just too small and poorly located in the resteraunt. Used spa facilities a couple of times on one occasion Jucuzzi broke not ideal when you want to relax and one of the reasons we chose this hotel was for the facilities like this but anyway apart from that a good hotel, pleasant staff and nice break Chester is lovely plenty to see and plenty of places to eat and drink

Room Tip: Premium rooms are nice and large and have a balcony. No noise issues from Bar below (5 floors below)

Just returned from a two night easter break at the Mill Hotel. The hotel is in an excellent location just five minutes walk from the town centre. Although the hotel was full there was still free parking available for guests, even for late arrivals. Real Ale bar is really lively but had no issues being served as there were plenty of attentive and polite staff on duty. Lots of locals using the bar in addition to guests. The hotel has learned the secret of not over charging on drinks, Some hotels have prices so inflated the guests have their refreshments elsewhere.

Romm was of a good size and with a very comfortable bed. As with the rest of the hotel it was spotless. Had dinner on the Friday evening which was very good quality and quantity. Breakfasts were good although very busy as i said before the hotel was full.

Our first visit to Chester and what a great time we had in a lovely friendly city. We would certainly return and would be glad to stay in the Mill Hotel again.

Thanks to all for a great stay!!

It was suprise weekend for my birthday from my family which ended up being 21 of us and what a great weekend it was thanks to the staff who were very attentive to all the family's needs especially the grandchildren. Lovley food and nothing was to much trouble for the restaurant staff or the bar staff who were very pleasant. Good reasonable prices for food and drink. Walking distance into the city centre, and free parking which helps reduce the cost. will definitely be back to stay again, thank you for making my special birthday weekend very special.

Stayed for a two night city break with family. Room described as club family room but more like a standard double with a sofa bed wedged behind the dressing table. Bath panel hanging off and back of wardrobe knocked out and resting on floor. Beds were comfy and clean however but with three females dressing for dinner each night it was a shame we could not sit at the dressing table as sofa bed prevented this. No extras to qualify club room status. Dinner in the restaurant on the Friday night was a set £25 to include a disco premium whether you wanted it or not. We didn't, so had to eat in the cafe next to the pool and spa - highly unglamourous and had we not been so tired would have ate elsewhere. Main lift not working (for several weeks I believe) so quite a trek up stairs and across bridge then up stairs to room. Couldn't have managed cases without my husband. Second night took dinner on the barge restaurant. Good fun except they charged me £27.50 for a child's burger and chips! Naturally I didn't pay this and upon checking my bill also noticed they charged us THREE times for our drinks and meal on the Friday night. So beware - check your bill at The Mill! Breakfasts were the usual hot and cold buffet but the coffee was disgusting. To sum up - average hotel with above average prices.

Room Tip: Rooms over bridge quieter.
