Stayed here with my husband to visit friends that live locally and decided to explore the nearby area, lovely village nearby with everything you could want. The local pub is a gastro pub and the food was amazing - take a torch as no street lights to get back to the cottage. The it's self was like being at home - lots of equipment and cooking gadgets in the kitchen to stir up a good meal (we only used it to do breakfast though). Having the coal fires in the dinning room and lounge was nice as not had one since i was a child, all the coal and wood was provided - very relaxing and peaceful I spent an hour in the garden listening to the occasional moo from cows and rarely a car! Both the bedrooms had plenty of space and the bed was comfortable. I have already spoken to the owner to book a longer stay with friends.

This was a lovely cottage, clean and spacious, in a small village.
There was a couple of problems with the hot water tap in the bath, sometimes it ran just a trickle, which made showering impossible, there was also quite a problem with flies but I guess that's just the country location! Overall we had a very pleasant stay.
Absolutely beautiful cottage placed in the country side, brilliantly clean with marvoulus beds! Had a brilliant stay with my husband, would highly recommend it for a countryside retreat! Couldn't ask for a better place to stay.
We had a fantastic break away from the rat race, just what we needed to chill out in these idyllic surroundings Thank you so much

Avoid, Avoid AVOID. A terrible stay. Whilst the village and residents of Shocklach are amazing, honeysuckle cottage is a death trap. The list of don’ts in the “welcoming” manual will set the scene. On the odd occasion the shower actually had some water coming out of it, it will be either scolding hot or cold. The “log” burner leaks terrible fumes every time you open the door (not just smoke) and only stays going a few hours without needing attention; a real burden every time you want to go out. It has to be re-lit on return since the ash does not filter through the grate (provide your own kindling). Only attempt to park in the ‘designated car park’ if you have a smart car or don’t value your bumpers. Don’t get it cleaned since you can only get your car half off the road. In summer all the tractors and cars cover everything in dust, chip your windows and paintwork whilst in winter you get plastered in mud. The car space fills with water and so you have to wade through a muddy puddle after the slightest bit of rain. Kettle leaks water everywhere all over the base so mind you don’t get electrocuted. The water, heated through an immersion heater has a big sign saying if you leave it on for more than 15 minutes it will explode! Very annoying if you have a family wanting to all shower. Most of the plug sockets don’t work as have been put too close to the floor so could cant get a plug into the socket!
There is no BT hotspot, despite being advertising as having this.
I’m a country girl, capable of using a log burner and dealing with bugs but when you pay a lot of money to stay somewhere you do not expect a slugs invasion at night covering the living room floor in slime. Also if you leave any windows open at night the rooms fill with bugs.
The owner is rude and money grabbing. Make sure you strip the beds, wash the sheets, do the mowing, hoover and mop all the floors when you leave otherwise you and your baby get hate mail saying you didn’t leave it very tidy!
Don’t put yourselves at risk staying here, there are plenty of other beautiful places to stay in the surrounding area.
I look forward to the trading standards report following our complaint.
