Stayed at Chester Court for 2 nights having booked 3 .We were in the annex at the back of the hotel in room 11. On arrival the there was a very strong smell of bleach ,similar to the public baths but this disappeared as time went on.The room was very small for a double with a narrow space to hang your clothes up (an old boiler cupboard without the boiler). The room was dated and after the bleachy smell disappeared became quite musty. The toilet ,shower room was tiny and when we arrived ,had no soap in the dispensers.Linen and towels were clean and ,as others have said were of good quality. Breakfast was good and staff very polite but because of the mustiness and size of the room we decided to leave early and would not stay here again.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome, our room was a good size, and clean, the beds very comfy, the bathroom was a bit dated and the door wouldn't close unless you bolted it from the inside. Also a couple of cracked windows, hence not given a 5 but still fine, lovely clean white towels, toiletries provided, tea/coffee/hot chocolate and biscuits provided in the room. Only a small window would open which was ok but in the summer wouldn't really be enough. Plenty of choice at breakfast with juices, cereals, fruit followed by a delicious full English. Staff always pleasant, helpful with a good knowledge of the local area. Would certainly stay here again.

We booked two nights in a twin room at a very reasonable price. The beds were comfortable and room and ensuite shower clean and well maintained. Plenty of choice for breakfasts. Only thing I would recommend is a choice of herbal teabags for the rooms and veggie options for cooked breakfast

We booked this hotel after searching the internet and were not disappointed, only there for one night before travelling on to Blackpool. There was an excellent pub within walking distance so we were able to get a meal easily.
We had room 15 (attic room!) a twin room which was extremely comfortable and immaculately clean.
We would have given five stars but for a few 'issues' with the bathroom which were reported to reception.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful, the breakfast was very good as was the service. Would definitely stay there again.

I chose this hotel due to its location, TripAdvisor reviews and parking facilities. It is in walking distance of the city - about 10 mins to the station and 20 mins to the city centre and it is also on a bus route with bus stops nearby (although the buses seem to stop quite early in the evening). There is, indeed, plenty of free parking space.
Our room was within the house (circa 1880) and the room was fine, even having a chandelier, but the en-suite shower room was in need of updating and had no electric razor point. The rooms in the more modern annex may well be better. The room was provided with good coffee and tea-making facilities and supplied with very nice biscuits.
The staff in the hotel were lovely - helpful and friendly and the breakkfasts were excellent. Plenty of choice of cooked breakfast up to a full English as well as the usual cereals, toast etc

Room Tip: Can't say from experience but may be better in the Annex
