Spent 2 nights at this hotel just a short walk from the station and not far from the city centre. You can go via the 2 underpasses or as we later discovered taking the canal walk into town. After spending so much of the day walking we took the meal option in the evening and was impressed. Along with the 'Happy Hour' during the hours of 6-8pm when drinks are 2 for 1 you really don't need to go back to town to enjoy a nice meal. Would stay in this hotel again and have to say we found the bed to be extremely comfortable as in other Premier Inn hotels.
You need it after the pleasant walks you experience in Chester.

We stayed here for two nights and had a really good stay. The room was comfortable as always in a premier inn. Also because we stayed for the hottest days this year we really appreciated the good quality air conditioning in the room. The staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was fresh and tasty, the woman working on overseeing breakfast that morning did such a good job making sure all sections were full and fresh. The best part really was the location of the hotel as it was stumbling distance from Chester's bars and restaurants.

Just a few slight things that stopped it being 5 stars:
1) couldn't open the window-meant no fresh air into the room.
2) toilet sheet dispenser rather than toilet roll made it feel like we were in a pub not a hotel room.
3) busy and cramped restaurant area made us unwilling to sit there
4) 2 for 1 has to be same drink- we wanted one drink before we went out and like different, so were forced to settle for something to suit the both of us. I really thought it was poor not to offer 2 for 1 on different drinks that had 5p difference between them.

Great hotel close to the city centre - only a short walk away. Small carpark, but good NCP car park close by (£6 24hrs). Service was always good, staff polite and always smiling. Breakfasts are fantastic!

The first thing we noticed after entering our room was the disgusting smell from the bathroom. Looking back at other reviews it's been mentioned since at least 2013 so no idea why it's still an issue.
The windows don't open so no chance of getting rid of the smell and makes the average sized room feel really stuffy.
There's apparently a "constant stream of fresh air into your room" which does nothing to overcome the feeling of claustrophobia.
The bathroom floor had patches of mould on it, inside the bath was stained black from where people have been stood to shower. Not very appealing.
The bed was not made by housekeeping at any time during our stay (except before our arrival). Might be a little thing but pretty basic really, I'd expect it to be done.
We could hear the room next door just talking to each other - not soundproof at all.
The beds are raised off the floor for some unknown reason meaning I had to physically climb to get into it and I'm 5'2 not exactly tiny. The mattress was pretty solid which I'm sure some people do prefer but I found very uncomfortable - maybe somewhere in the middle would be a better option to cater for more guests.
Don't be fooled by the 2 for 1 happy hour at the bar. The drinks must be the same - even down to the flavour so not really a deal if one wants wine and the other wants a beer.
The bar area is tiny with only a few tables and very crowded. Whilst we didn't eat at the restaurant it also appeared very small.
The signs in the lift showing which floor each rooms were located on was marked in letters eg G for ground but the buttons in the lift were numbers eg 0. So didn't match up making it a bit confusing!
Signs on the door in corridors also on wrong side of door so eg door would say rooms 1-6 but would really be rooms 7-10. Again just makes finding your room a tad confusing.
One redeeming factor was the lady who checked us in was lovely, really friendly helpful and polite. Didn't get her name but she deserves a pay rise.
Won't be coming back.

My wife and I stopped for a couple of nights at this hotel a great location so very close to the centre of chester too. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpfull the food was filling especially the breakfast a very good selection to choose .
The hotel has its own carpark free thou limited spaces which we were lucky to use also a lift takes you to reception from there so easy to take your luggage to room. The room we stopped in was very clean and comfortable usual tea/coffee fascilities also with air conditioning much better than just a fan . I will deffinately choose still hotel for its price, location for my next visit to this interesting town .
