Dropped in Yesterday for a light dinner as it was the inaugural comedy evening and what a night! We chose to share a cheese and charcuterie platter comprising of British and French cheeses, handsomely sliced meats, queen olives and stunning baby peppers. Ample bread and crackers alongside a vibrant chilli-jam and hearty paté were a welcome surprise. Although I wasn't drinking, (my partner was on rosé) there was an extensive wine list available to pair nicely and make for a diverse and totally satisfying meal.

The ensuing sell-out comedy was achingly funny, which was to be expected given the acclaimed performers hailing from The Fringe and Mock the Week. In all, it made for a superb evening of food entertainment.

Highly Recommended.

It's a nicely decorated open plan bar and efficient service but the only food on offer is the platters for two which turned out to be astronomically priced for a very poor and mean effort, which obviously means they don't want me to call in again because they already have too many customers.

We were spending 2 days in Chester visiting some of the best real ale pub's and craft beer bar's that this lovely city has to offer and The Cornerhouse Pub was one of the first we visited.
This pub over the years has changed its name a few times,I remember when it was called The Chester Hangman Pub and also The Compass pub.
The pub may have changed its name but the real ale's on offer are still fantastic.
I opted for Salopian Brewery Oracle and this ale was served in tip top condition and we just chilled out and enjoyed our ale's while choosing which real ale pub to visit next.
The pub itself,apart from the name change hasn't altered that much,a nice serving bar with a great selection of beer's,a lovely inviting interior with nice furnishings and great decor and plenty of seating options both inside and outside all housed in a very eye catching building.
We moved on after our delicious real ale but as on every other visit to here we had a great time.
Very easy to locate,you will find The Cornerhouse Pub on City Road by the underpass.
Opening hours are;
Monday to Sunday,midday till 11pm.
A great pub and one I highly recommend you visit if your in the area.
