We got into Port Hardy after a 6 day kayak trip. Our return trip was in pouring rain. We were wet and tired and wanted a hot shower and a warm bed. C&N had room for us and when we got there I was beyond pleasantly surprised. We got a very, very nice private room. The showers were nice and hot. The shared areas were very pleasant and clean. The hostel used to be a movie theatre so it's very funky, but very well done. The managers of the hostel were very friendly, helpful and kind. I would stay here again in a second and I'm very picky about my accommodations.

The midnight check in after arriving by BC Ferries from Prince Rupert was welcoming and efficient. We wished we could have stayed longer but we had tickets for the morning bus to Courtenay. The Greyhound Bus Station was very close to the Backpackers so very convenient in that regard.

In a converted theatre, this hostel offers clean, quiet accommodations in a town which is always fully booked on 'ferry ' days. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Given the wicked ferry schedule (departure and arrival) , they seemed to be on duty 24hrs, and always cheerful. 'Single' means a bed in a dorm, if in a group try to secure one dorm room for all for convenience.the hostel offers a shuttle to/from the ferry which is 20 min out of town by car. Bedding and towels provided, well equipped kitchen facilities. Great place for the budget traveller.

This is THE place to stay in Port Hardy if you are on a budget. You can rent a bunk in a big room with a group, a single room with shared bathroom or a private room with shower. They have a wonderful cafe next door that opens really early and serves great breakfast coffee, muffins and cinnamon buns. It is clean, relatively quiet and located right in the center of town. They also offer free parking for leaving your car when off hiking or on a kayaking trip. And frankly, the places that charge more in this town do not offer much more than this Hostel. It is a large, well-run establishment.
