Had the prawn fajitas, very nice and a very generous portion, so much so that i couldn't manage a sweet, Wife had Soup followed by a lovely Derbyshire beef burger which she enjoyed. Nice food, decor could do with sprucing up but in these Covid times you cannot blame them for spending too much money. We only ate here, didn't stay.

We stayed 2 nights at the Boar's Head in September. A very warm and friendly welcome greeted us from this excellently run family hotel. We were upgraded to a King size room that was extremely clean and comfortable. The beer garden is a great addition and we enjoyed pre dinner drinks there each evening. The meals in the restaurant were freshly prepared, piping hot, good quality and reasonably priced (even without the 25% reduction!). Breakfast - again excellent with a full hot choice selection. The staff are well drilled and provide a friendly and attentive service. Gabrielle- the owners daughter deserves special praise. Certainly recommend the 5* quality and service.
Returned to the Boars Head for a family meal, having been totally satisfied prior to lockdown, can honestly say we felt comfortable and safe. The staff are taking all necessary precautions to maximise persons safety. Despite the social distancing the overall ambience was warm and inviting. Meal and service both excellent. Will be back very soon. Keep up the good work.
I visited with 5 colleagues for a catch up over dinner, using the Eat Out to Help Out offer.
The restaurant is very well decorated and very pleasant surroundings for a meal. The tables were sufficiently spaced so as not to be uncomfortable, particularly in the current climate.
The staff were all friendly and attentive and took our orders efficiently and with a smile. All wore protective masks.
Our food was all of good quality, very tasty. Portion sizes were ok, not particularly big but I personally felt suitably full afterwards. There is a good variety on offer on the menu, the 50% off made it very reasonable indeed however a few dishes I wouldn't be happy to pay full price on.
Overall it was a very good evening and we all said we would visit again. Well done to all the staff.
This hotel and restaurant is the only establishment we have visited since lockdown, mainly due to the safe distancing measures that have put in place by Gabrielle and her team. You feel safe here. The new outside eating area, with its heating, lighting and pretty flowers is a wonderful addition to the hotel’s facilities.
The staff always provide great service and are all very efficient and friendly.
The food was excellent, as it always is. We met the chef, Chris, later in the evening and complimented him on providing us with a delicious meal.
A most enjoyable evening. Thank you to all at the Boars Head, and we look forward to dining with you again soon.
£90 for a deluxe king room which includes breakfast, dated furniture dirty Mirrors and dirt mark in the bath tub, not quite sure what is deluxe about this, disappointing and over priced.
Breakfast was told to sit at a table not offered a choice same for the full English breakfast no choice offered on white or brown bread, cold coffee, no check backs done, plates just left on table we gave up waiting and it wasn’t busy in the restaurant, we have noticed either regular or locals are being offered choices on their breakfasts and where they would like to sit, we just felt ignored so decided to go back to our room.
Dinner we ordered two moretti’s when they came we was told “ sorry we have run out of glasses “ odd as there was about 20 people in total at the restaurant,
We ordered one chef special which was cod and two prawns in a Thai green sauce and rice, which was nice and my partner ordered the chicken curry which was dry and hard we waited about 45 minutes for our dinners again restaurant was dead and no one asked if we would like refills on our drinks we had to wave a member of staff down, we decided to order a cheese board and a brownie sundae, the cheese board was well over priced and crackers stale rip off for £8 the evening was such a disappointment having to get up and ask for a drink and order dessert,
