We have stayed twice, both times have been an excellent experience. Mile and Marion are superb hosts, nothing is too much trouble, excellent food and conversation plus great advice about where to visit.
It is difficult to fault what is a total package for anyone who wants to get away and relax.
We will definitely be back.

Following recommendations from friends can be hazardous but in this case our faith in our friend was fully rewarded. Michael and Marion Storey rang us after we had booked to check that the room for wheelchair acess would in fact meet our needs, then greeted us on arrival and showed us the way straight into our room from the car park patio. The space for wheelchair manoueverability was good, as were other aspects of the hotel. Although there are two public rooms which have just a small step to access, this proved no problem at all. Brandy Bank was extremely comfortable and warm both in temperature and in atmosphere, the food was superb and our overall experience of Northumberland was much enhanced by this base from which we explored it. Coming back from cold trips n the car to a hot cup of coffee from Michael and offers of more drinks whenever we would like them was great. We are returning this year for another week of being cossetted and treated like royalty and hope to have many more happy experiences. Thank you Marion and Michael.

Room Tip: Ask about disabled facilities In summer, see if a south facing room is free

The booking for Brandy Bank was made by my colleague so I had no idea what to expect when we arrived on a dark, wet and windy night after a long day working. We were welcomed in the car park and helped in with our bags to a warm sitting room. From that moment on everything was perfect. The bedrooms are very comfortable with well equipped ensuites and all around the house is clean and fresh.
The highlight of the evening was the meal, personally cooked by the owner Michael. Three delightful courses with homemade bread and a glass of wine followed by tea and coffee in the relaxing old style sittingroom. Sleep came easily and then it was time to eat again! The full works English breakfast which included locally sourced black pudding was delicious. I could easily have stayed on for the rest of the day but we certainly left in high spirits for a trip across the top of the hills to work as the sun came up through the clouds. Put the phone number and address into your mobile - I have.

we stumbled on brandy bank by chance and have revisited several times since, 3 or 4 times a year. we frequently meet relatives from yorkshire there, for short breaks, overnight stays or just lunch. the welcome is always wonderfully warm, the food and accomodation are always excellent. marion and michael are lovely people and perfect hosts.
it is easy to find and yet wonderfully rural. there are loads of things to do in the area from country walks to interesting shops and historic sights.
we look forward to visiting again soon.

Room Tip: all good there is a well appointed disabled access room on the ground floor.

Who would know what a gem Brandy Bank is as one goes along the Carter Bar road? We do, having recently returned from out third visit in two years.
The cuisine is first-class (better than any of the hotels in the area we have eaten in), with the menu changing every evening, and everything freshly prepared and cooked on the premises. The wines are also excellent, and reasonably priced for their high quality.
Bedrooms have been modernised since we first stayed, shortly after Michael and Marion Storey took over, and are very comfortable. Although most are close to the main road, we have not been disturbed by traffic noise. However, for those inclined to feel the cold, it may be desirable to mention this in order that heating is kept on as required.
Michael and Marion are the most attentive of hosts, warm and friendly, and we are sure we carry out any reasonable request with alacrity. West Woodburn is, of course, set in the middle of fabulous countryside.

Room Tip: Light sleepers may wish to be as far from the road as possible.
