I walk along the West Vancouver Seawall each Wednesday morning with friends, and usually park near the Ferry Building. Frequently, I visit the gallery because they're always featuring local artists.

This rathe ancient one room art gallery holds regularly changing shows that feature mainly local artists, often displaying local landscapes that may appeal to visitors. Admission is free so you are risking nothing by taking a look as part of a waterfront stroll

The ferry building is a heritage building set between the west Vancouver sea walk and Ambleside beach. The admission is by donation, and the art inside changes continually. There is a new display every two or three weeks. The art displays have great variety fromo e artist to another. It is a pleasure to take a break in the coastal stroll, and to take a break inside. The views from the windows are spectacular! And right nearby is a pier to also take in the views of the beach, ocean, city and Stanley park. This one is a little jewel!

On a beautiful Spring evening my husband and I walked the Ambleside Boardwalk and watched the crabbers on the dock, and then discovered an artists gem in The Ferry Building, set in the shadow of the Lions Gate Bridge and Stanley Park across the water. The occasion was an design and illustration show of the students of Capilano University IDEA program (Illustration and Design). The show is open to May 28th. I loved the work and its heritage setting. A perfect family outing, and best of all, wheelchair accessible.

The place is not very large - it takes less than 15 minutes to see everything, but they feature exhibits from local artists- usually painting but some sculpture. Charming building right on the waters edge and fun for a quick look through every few months. No charge- donation only.
