We loved this place. Audrey, the proprietor, was friendly and helpful when we arrived. We had plenty of room for 6 adults and 2 children, and all the amenities of home. Groceries, beach, dining spots, and attractions were close by. We enjoyed eating out at The Catch a very short walk away, and strolls on the beach and up to the lighthouse.

Great place for the family to holiday together. Close to the beach, a great restaurant and scenic drives.
We stayed at this property in the summer of 2014 with two other families. There were six adults total, as well as five small children. The home had ample room for all of us, especially in the main living areas. There were two spacious eating areas which meant that we could all eat together, or the kids could eat on their own. The lawn outside the house is also very large, which was perfect for the kids to run around on. The house is quite close to the street, but it isn't a busy road so this wasn't a problem, even for the youngest in our party.
The owners of the house could not have been more pleasant and accommodating -- they were very happy to answer any questions we had about the local area and to give us suggestions for what to do. Also, the few times we needed something for the house (e.g. extra light bulbs), they were there very quickly and always wanted to make sure we were having a good time. Thank you, folks!!
In terms of activities, the walk to the beach was only five minutes; the beach was one of PEI's famous red-sand beaches -- beautiful. We took long walks along the beach and ended up at the lighthouse. The lighthouse was fun for the kids and well worth a visit. There is also a playground walking distance from the house. Our favourite evening activity was to walk to the nearby wharf (2 minutes away) where the kids had a ball climbing on huge rocks and discovering many treasures. There were a number of quiet country roads nearby that were well-used by the runners among us.
There is a little gift shop nearby where we bought some locally-made souvenirs, as well as a restaurant. The drive to the nearby town of O'Leary was short and picturesque, when we did need groceries or when we went for ice cream one day.
The only downside is that the house is a fair distance from many of the tourist attractions that PEI is known for (i.e. Anne of Green Gables), but there were so many other interesting things to do that we didn't feel we had missed out. Also, being a little further from the more popular areas meant we were forced to relax... and we were able to do that in abundance!
We were more people than initially planned for one of our weeks, so some of the teens slept in tents!
Beds were very comfortable, one of the queen sized bedrooms has an ensuite, All bedrooms are upstairs and there is a fold down old school double size couch in the living which was used by the person who lost the coin toss! Also a fold away bed (single) very comfy for anyone under 150 lbs.
We had many wonderful meals-2 lobster dinners! Bought from the fishermen on the wharf, also sold us some Mackerel! There's an amazing restaurant on the wharf (2min walk from house)
called The Catch-we went twice! It's a small town so mind your manners! Our server was actually family to our cottage owner-absolutely lovely bunch! And in no way did we ever feel
a lack of privacy. We only came in contact with our hosts twice, to let us in and to cut the grass. Any questions were answered immediately by Lynn via email.
Kitchen as fairly standard, everything I needed including a dishwasher. Strangely the potato peeler was possibly the worst ever! I should have bought a new one for the cottage since we did ruin a section of grass with one of our tents. Beach was extremely private and natural. Teenagers had beach fires at night. Could use more reading lamps and comfy chairs and couches for watching movies in the evening. Large flat screen and dvd player was enjoyed most nights. Went for groceries etc in O'Leary (20min) I like to knit and was able to buy yarn at the craft store under The Guardian Pharmacy. All the teenagers got bored when weather was dull so we taught them to knit! We went to the Potato museum and had an amazing meal in their restaurant. Overall lots of fun and many wonderful people wherever we went!
