Lovely evening at the Daffodil last night, great food, great service and such a lovely atmosphere. The wellington was fantastic and the sea bass went down a treat with others

Where do I start. A genuine warm welcome followed by a great choice of meals. All 4 of us picked something different and none of us were disappointed. Then the pudding list came out. I have eaten at some of the best Michelin star restaurants in the world. This chef deserves a big shout out. Service really good.x worth a visit if you are a foodie

Can a restaurant be excellent one visit and poorish the next? If so why?

In this case I suspect (a) weekday lunchtime, few customers, lovely lunch menu, delicious fish and risotto, vegetarian option and puddings.

(B) Sunday lunch, many customers, kitchen under pressure? Duck rilettes simply overwhelmed by a chili "jam". Roast pork dry, no crackling, carved in lumps of fat and gristle. A teaspoon of apple stuffing. Cauliflower "cheese" bathed in what seemed like warm milk. Boring veg. Good roast potatoes. Bread and butter pudding a brown slab....

Service was good and efficient on both occasions, but if you're picky, avoid Sunday lunch!!

Called in for lunch on the way to Tresaith. Have to say everything about this place was quality.

The setting, ambience, service all 5 star and the food was even better.

Starter trio of pork, main of chicken and sticky toffee pudding were to die for, followed by an espresso martini

We will be back

We took some frends who have never been before and all were very complimentary. Although we asked for some special requirements with our meal, one of the members had to send the food back as the chef had not done what was asked of him. The second plate that arrived tasted lovely, however the presentation was nothing like the first. Puddings were delicious!
The owner/chap at the bar was a little vocal, however that was just our opinion. Shame there was no local beer on draught, with Mantle brewery just on their doorstep.
