“So good we went twice in three days!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 February 2011

There are a handful of very good restaurants in Mont-Tremblant, and on our 7 night trip we dined at four of the best the town has to offer. Le Cheval de Jade was hands-down our favorite, so much so that after our meal there on Thursday we immediately reserved a table for Saturday as well. My wife and I had the Discovery menu the first night, and the Gastronomique the second night. Not only is the food outstanding, but the whole team does everything they can to make your entire experience the best possible. Frederique and Olivier obviously love what they do, and it shows in the excitement they have in each course they serve. Chantelle is as knowledgeable a sommelier as we have met, and her wine pairings with the meal were unique and equally as outstanding as the food. The food and wine are comparable to the better restaurants in Paris, for about 2/3 of the price! This is THE restaurant in Mont-Tremblant for true foodies, not to be missed!

“Underwhelming”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 January 2010

We had visited this restaurant several years ago, and decided to return just before Christmas. Decor still lovely, burgundy & pine green walls in charming old house. However, being Christmas season, there were two sets of loud groups (not the restaurant's fault) on the other side. Had the salmon tartare, which was just as good as we remembered (has a lemony creme sure side that is divine). Foie gras was disappointing -- texture a little off and the sauce wasn't particularly memorable. The skate main course with the lemon sauce was very good, however hubby's steak was not the best cut of meat, and he described it as "good but not great." On the whole, some highlights, and then some underwhelming bits.

“Cheval de Jade: not to be missed”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 September 2009

This is a truly excellent restaurant that should not be missed on a trip to Mont-Tremblant. It is about a 15 minute drive from the resort, and well worth it. My wife and I enjoyed outstanding seared fois gras, excellent boullaibaisse, a wonderful fish soup, an excellent vegetarian offering, desserts way better than usual, excellent service, and excellent wine pairings by the glass suggested by a very knowledgeable server, in a pretty setting in an old house. The only quibble I had was that the shell for the profiteroles was too crisp.

For fans of true Canard Rouennais (as served at Tour D'Argent) this is one of the few places it is available in North America; check out the interesting and impressive duck press while you visit this restaurant.

PS - the prices were surprisingly reasonable. Our bill, including the kir royal and wine pairings, was only $178 including taxes.
