1) On the night of Aug 29, a white gentleman processed our checkin.I had 2 rooms 148 & 150 and we were a total of 8 ( 4 in each room ).He gave us 14 breakfast coupons for Aug 30 and Aug 31.I told him that we were 8 people and that he should give us 16 coupons. He said we need not worry and that the breakfast servers will give food to all of us.On Aug 30 we gave 8 out of our 14 coupons and we had no problems. However, on the morning of Aug 31, we faced problems.A white lady working at the front office did not believe that the man who processed our checkin had told us that coupons are not important and that all the 8 of us will get food. She gave us tons of attitude before giving us the additional coupons. Why was the white man who was working at the front office on the night of Aug 29 not aware of the hotel policy " NO COUPON NO BREAKFAST " ? He gave us 14 instead of 16 coupons, gave wrong information and landed us in an embarrassing position on the morning of Aug 31.
2) Rooms and washrooms were clean at checkin. We went out on the morning of Aug 30 to visit Quebec city and were shocked to see our rooms upon return late at night. The rooms and washrooms had not been cleaned !!!! Beds not made, floor not cleaned, garbage pails not emptied, bathtubs, washbasins and toilets not cleaned, hair on the washroom floor, bathroom supplies not replenished. In short , housekeeping had not entered rooms 148 and 150 !!! I called front office. A black man, who I noticed was working at the reception, showed up. He did a super quick mop of the washrooms with a small towel and took out the garbage. This was not a proper cleaning one expects at a Comfort Inn. Also, I was surprised to see a front office guy show up to clean a washroom. This hotel does not seem to have proper housekeeping staff.
3) I told this black man, who came to clean our room, that the power outlet in room 150 is not working. He did not send anyone. Then called up front office to say that the power outlet does not work. Still no-one fixed the problem.
On Aug 31, I left a tip in an envelope at the front office, for the housekeeper. I did so because I always do so upon checkout. However, this was the worst episode of improper housekeeping I have ever noticed at a Comfort Inn. In fact, I do not even know if this three star hotel has housekeeping staff. As I have stated, on the night of Aug 30, a black man, who was working at the front office, showed up to hastily clean our washrooms. I never knew that front office employees can double up as housekeepers !!!!!
Very unpleasant experience.
