Smokin Tuna is a neat little restaurand on the edge of the water in Southrern Vancouver Island, close to East Sooke Park. It offers a variety of seafood dishes. Our preferred ones inlude breaded calamari and seared Tuna. The food is always delightful, as are the views and the ambiance of the surrounding trailer park.
Unfortunate features are that at our last visit in May 2018, they still had not been able to obtain a liquor licence for their outside patio. So you have to chose between sun on your scalp or beer/wine etc in your gullet. Another problem is that there is no shaded parking spot in reasonable vicinity. So you have to leave your four-legged friend at home.

We have tried several times to eat at this establishment over the summer months and each time they have run out of food and we have had to leave and go elsewhere to eat.

Friends who live nearby took us for dinner at the Smokin Tuna. It was absolutely unbelievably fabulous. You have to try the calamari appetizer - huge fresh pieces cooked to perfection. I had the tuna for the main course - I've never had tuna cooked so perfectly. My cohorts had tuna and the lamb - and the lamb got rave reviews from them too.
For dessert the chef had prepared a homemade berry icecream - sourced local, and crème brulee.
Simply outstanding.
No one would ever suspect that this brilliant restaurant is hidden just on the edge of the beach. If you're on the south end of Vancouver Island, you just have to go there and experience it.

Four of us journeyed out here for dinner. My wife and I had eaten lunch here several times and loved the location and the food so thought we'd try dinner. Two of us had rack of lamb and two prime rib. Both dishes were expertly cooked and really good. Creme brule for dessert was great. Chef seems alone in the kitchen but handles everything. The place gets really busy so you need reservations. Unique, quirky and wonderful.
