We occupied the self contained unit on the Easterly end of the house. Well equipped & comfortable. Ruma, the owner, lives in the main house, with two rooms therein that she also lets out. Roma is available, while non intrusive, for any need. We were welcomed with a large fruit bowl. Roma also caters, & we were able to be included in a lovely East Indian cuisine. We selected this location as it is so close to Macgregor Park & the Boardwalk, which we intended on crab fishing from. The parking lot for the park is a couple of properties down on the other side of the street. From there you walk down the hill road to stairs down to the Boardwalk. If, like us, you don't like the climb back up the stars, you can proceed West on the street to the end a block away, then take a short path through the woods, to the top of the easy grade switch backs down to the other end of the Boardwalk. Most crabbing is occurring at the steps end, but no difference in crabbing at the easy access end, which also has a bench to sit on. Crabbing was good. Dined on same numerous times during our two week stay. (our main reason for coming to Sooke, as had sold Motorhome & weren't doing normal September trip to Oregon for same) LadyJane, our Miniature Schnauzer, loved the deer that transversed the property daily. She also very much liked Ruma, as did we all. We, of course, dined at the Sooke Harbour House, both for a supper & a lunch, as well as the Stone Pipe Grill ( within easy walking distance) the 17 Mile House, Shirley Delicious (both a drive away). All in all we felt very good about the trip, which salved our feelings of loss of the motorhome & Bandon Oregon, both of which were lovely past regular experiences, but not practicable to continue beyond my current age of 87.

Liked best: It was just what we wanted.
Liked least: The kitchen chairs, which I found quite hard & uncomfortable. I am 87 & my own seat padding isn't what it once was

“Great location for exploring the Sooke area”

My husband and I stayed in the Log Suite for the month of February and thoroughly enjoyed our vacation. Ruma is a generous and friendly host, but also allowed us lots of privacy. The suite had everything we needed, was bright and clean, and within walking distance to grocery stores, restaurants, and the harbour boardwalk. The loft bedroom is not easily accessible to seniors, but the Murphy bed was very easy to use and comfortable to sleep on. Sooke is a welcoming community and we made full use of the recreation centre, walking trails, nearby beaches, and museum/info centre.

“Excellent rental and warm welcome”
Reviewed 17 August 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Ruma is a very kind host that made us feel at home! The apartment is very nice, clean and well maintained. Our children enjoyed the cosy beds upstairs under the roof and loved to watch the deers in the garden. The place is nice for different trips around the area. We enjoyed mostly the French Beach and the Sooke Potholes - don't miss it, it's a unique experience.
We will come again and spend more days at this nice place. Very recommendable!

we booked for one night stay and after a few minutes of our arrival, we were wishing we were staying longer. This is a cute clean and peaceful accomodation near to all amenities and a lovely boardwalk to stroll along by the sea at night. Ruma was an amazing host and we felt immediatly welcome into her home and beautifully kept gardens full of flowers. She provided everything we needed with an open heart. If your searching for a place that is quiet and calm, and encourages comfort and a good night s sleep look no further and book it up. we will certainly be back !
