“A great hotel at a great price”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 September 2011

We really enjoyed our stay, a great value for the price. Pool and hot tub were very clean as were the change rooms. The view from our room was beautiful and the room itself was clean, comfortable and all we could have expected. Breakfast in the dining room was very good.

We stayed here for 2 nights and it was very nice. The breakfast wasent the best. I ordered the French toast and it was really soggy and had no flavor. I had to drench it in maple syrup. And i still wasn't satisfied.
hotel service was great. I would reccomed the hotel but not the hotel restaurant.

The decor in this hotel desperately needs an update. At one time I am sure it looked quaint, but now it looks tired and worn. The rooms are quite large, which was nice, but the bathroom was fairly small. The rooms were very clean and the beds were comfortable. It looked like they had a decent swimming pool, although I didn't have time to check it out. I also liked the balcony which had an ocean view. My breakfast in the restaurant was quite good, although I thought service was a little slow and disorganized considering there weren't very many people to be served. Personally, I just couldn't get over the old-looking appearance of the room. I wouldn't recommend it to a friend unless they were just looking for a cheap, decent room.

Room Tip: Try to get an upper floor room on the east side of the hotel to get an ocean view.

My sister and I and two cousins took two rooms in this Inn for one night. The Inn was very easy to find, nicely located across from the beach in Qualicum BC. Ample parking. Check-in was efficient and everything was ready when we arrived at 1 p.m. The front desk clerk was kind enough to allow us to use two credit cards per room so that we didn't have to try and separate meal charges etc. There is no elevator in the two story building - but the front desk was very helpful with our luggage. The rooms were very clean, slightly smelling of cleaning solution but not too bad. Very basic rooms with a view of the beach across the road - and the sunset which was lovely. Small balcony for each room separated by planters so not particularly private. The Inn does have a swimming pool which we did not use, although it looked very clean and well maintained. The beds were very comfortable.
The one complaint we had was with the dining room. When asked to substitute french fries for gnocci my sister was told "no substitutions, the chef prepares his menus with what he considers to be appropriate combinations". If she wanted fries she could have them extra for $4. Since the chef was not the one eating the food, this seemed a little silly to us. As a consequence my sister ordered a cheaper entree, thus the restaurant made less money. The meals were delicious, if a little pricey. Breakfast also presented a problem with one of us being brought the wrong order and having to wait for the proper one while everyone else enjoyed their meals. One of us ordered "very crisp" bacon and it came flabby and had to be sent back - it was replaced almost instantly with cold bacon.
We had asked for a wake-up call that didn't come but there was an upsetting incident in the hotel the previous night so this might be understood.
All in all I would give this Inn an average rating but definitely wouldn't recommend the restaurant.

We had a wonderful two day and night stay at the hotel. We were part of a large group attending a Navy Days celebration. We were treated great by all staff, rates were reasonable, service excellent. This has always been where we stay in Qualicum Beach and will continue to be so.
