“Excellent”
Reviewed 30 October 2015 for a stay in September 2015

La Baubesse was a very lucky find, situated high up in a beautiful Provence valley ringed by mountains, a visual delight in all weathers. The house itself is so welcoming, comfortable and livable, with a great kitchen ready for cooking, and a lounge dining area that was perfect for leisurely meals and long evenings in front of the classic stone fireplace. The house is cosy and inviting, as well as spacious, with a huge extension, a room filled with books, and with large windows looking out on to the land. This is the ideal place for retreat and rest, or for long walks through the valley. The sheer beauty of the valley, and the immediate ‘at home’ feeling of the house, as described in other reviews, made la Baubesse very hard to leave at the end of our stay, and wishing we had arranged a longer stay. The village of Maussane les Alpilles is 10 minutes away by car, with excellent produce, shops, restaurants, and a fantastic Sunday market.
The owner Nissim is a welcoming and warm host, very generous and kind, and if we needed help, or advice, we only had to ask. Nissim responds to emails very promptly, and booking was hassle-free.
A true holiday, with wonderful memories, and we are both very keen to return—thank you so much Nissim!

Beautiful surroundings best kitchen view you will ever see

This is like you imagine heaven to be

It's our second time and the owner gave us 20 percent discount

Fantastic views, wild pigs in the garden, no neighbours and a swimming pool what more could you want

The food in the area is 80 percent locally sourced we are already looking at future dates to go back absolutely surreal surroundings

Nissim is very knowledgeable and makes you feel welcome without intruding

“Home in Provence”

A couple of weeks ago (early to mid-May) my husband and I and another couple spent a wonderful week here. We can’t begin to say enough about the beauty, charm and peacefulness of the place. The setting is very private and completely quiet except for the birdsongs that change throughout the day. And the view is tremendous: it stretches out from the greenery and spring flowers of the hill where the house is situated, to the towns and cities of Provence. The property is large enough that each person can find his or her own private space when desired and then come together for meals at any of several spots outside.
Maussane-Les-Alpilles is the closest village and has the most wonderful boulangeries, patisseries, green grocer and butcher. Each morning some of us drove down to the village (10 minutes) for fresh croissants, bread, and quiche while the others made coffee and set one of the outdoor tables.
We did cook several dinners at “home,” but there are some excellent restaurants close by in Maussane. Our favorite was La Fleur de Thym. Nissim was kind enough to make reservations for us for our first night.
Nissim Marshall is the owner and a most gracious host. As others have noted, he seems to appear just when you have a question and then leaves you to your privacy. There are books in every room of the house, on just about every subject imaginable, and most are in English.
The location is ideal for day trips to Nimes, Arles, Aix, and other Provencal sights, but be sure to make time for market day in Saint-Remy-de-Provence (15 minutes away). The town is gorgeous and the market is huge. Free parking is easy near the TI office.
Renting a house has many advantages like being able to cook meals with the stunning produce available at village markets as well as more space to relax in than even the nicest of hotels.
A car is essential

“Very surreal views”
Reviewed 1 August 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We have just returned from an eleven day stay at Bausame the views are unbelievable. We previously stayed at Oustau du Baumerie and didn't even know this was just tucked around the corner with the eastern sunrise. Nissim is a very knowledgeable and unobtrusive host, he made us aware of local shops and restaurants as well as markets. The villa is full of his artworks and books, the swimming pool and view were out of this world. Mausanne shops and Hotel Jeanne kept us well fed. We are already planning to go back back next year, it was a truly relaxing break

“Provence from the top of the mountains”
Reviewed 18 July 2012 for a stay in June 2012

Most amazing view from a terrace of a lovely stone house on the top of the mountains - feeling almost the only person up there at the same time diving into the pool surrounded by mountains... A special feeling - worth sharing with the others. Greetings from Lithuania!
