Owner description: Whitewater Ski Resort, quietly legendary, is hard to describe to those who have not had the privilege to experience its true authenticity and abundance of snow. Over 12 meters (40 feet) of snow falls each season on 2044 vertical feet of uncrowded slopes of family-friendly groomers and bumps, remarkable steeps, top of the line tree-skiing, and endless backcountry. Some come for the legendary skiing, and some come for the legendary food. Whitewater serves up proper Kootenay hospitality with its internationally acclaimed menu that has inspired four National Best Selling cookbooks. Whitewater. Pure, simple and real…DEEP

Had lunch at the lodge and have to say it was the best lunch on a ski hill we ever had. I ordered the Beet on Beet salad and it was very delicious. No wonder Sheley Adams writes cook books.
Skiing was also great. After skiing Big White and Revi this is absolutely my new favourite mountain.

Most ski hill day lodges we have been to serve oredictable and boring burgers, bacon, toasties, pizza etc. The Whitewater lodge is an exception, serving a wide variety of healthy and spicy alternatives. A friendly local told us that credit for this is probably due to the Nelson cookery school. Apart from the large canteen style eating area, there is a small section with a more pub like atmosphere. The coffee served by the baristas is exceptionally good.

I have trouble explaining what makes this place so great. It has something to do with the powder, obviously. Definitely the fantastic staff and the low-key vibes. Probably the delicious, fresh food at multiple cafes. The insane amount of terrain accessible by only three lifts certainly helps. I guess it’s pretty easy to explain. I felt like I stumbled upon a local secret, and I hope it stays that way. Coming from wet Cascade snow, I never thought I’d ski dry BC powder pillows—and certainly not in-bounds. But Whitewater delivered. When we went, the number of groomers was limited due to a recent storm. Our novice skiers couldn’t appreciate the mountain as much because of this. But if you have powder skis in your quiver, throw them on and have the time of your life.

A come as you are ski area. Great snow, great scenery, great food. Super laid back, low-key Kootenay vibe. Great value for the price.

Great spot for true skiers & boarders to enjoy fabulous powder... low key spot.....basic amenities cafeteria, rental skis & boards.... ski school and mountain hosts.... 3 fixed grip lifts including one brand new quad, a classic old triple, and an historical double... staff are friendly... lots of opportunity for ski touring... wonderful ridges to explore... highly recommend this for outstanding snow... bit of a shortage of groomers... no night life or glitz just hard core skiing...
