Just spent 4 glorious days and 3 nights at the Ocean Trails Resort. Will definitely be returning! Our Condo was spotless!! Everything you could possibly want was there. The grounds are beautifully kept, as is the whole resort. Close to beaches, town, Coombs and Morningstar Farm!!! Who could ask for more!!??

Thank you for your TripAdvisor review - we appreciate it! It' springtime on Vancouver Island, and while the rest of the country slowly thaws from this past winter, as you've seen the grass is green, the flowers are up and the beach is open for long intimate strolls. We're definitely within a stone's throw of the best of what the central Island has to offer, and we hope you'll come back soon and check out even more of it.

We rented #66 on a long term stay in the winter. The staff were very accommodating and, when something wasn't working (i.e. sink plugged) the handyman fixed it right away.
After seeing my relatives' room #78, I realize how badly #66 needs updating. The following problems that we found with #66:

-Dishwasher-push firmly on both sides of door at the top. It sounds like it's starting and stopping 4 times before it starts.
-Bed Headboard-large space at head of bed where pillows fall through.
-Heating-to get heat from the baseboards, you must have the fireplace on. The fireplace goes off on it's own sometimes. Pretty cold in winter!
-Fridge-is loud at times and makes bubbling or dripping noises (refrigerant).
-Kitchen bread knives are dull.
-Several silverfish spotted in bathroom.

Room tip: Although the management won't assign a room prior to checking in, try to get an upper floor to avoid noise.

Thanks for your recent visit. We take a lot of pride in the meticulous condition of our condominiums. All items in every hotel room eventually wear out, or need maintenance, and not until a guest shares an issue with us are we able to address some issues. And some aren’t issues at all. For example, our dishwashers: it is normal to hear numerous starts and stops during throughout your entire cycle. These starts and stops are needed to provide optimal cleaning performance and energy savings. The fireplace is on a thermostat and will turn itself off once the unit has reached temperature. Baseboards do not need separate controls as they too are on their own thermostats. Refrigerators, especially those that are frost free, circulate moisture and when they are empty (like ours) you’re likely able to hear this more than yours at home which is likely full. We’re always willing to calm concerns with a simple call to the front desk. We hope you’ll stay with us again.

My friends and I always enjoy our accommodation at Ocean Trails. Plenty of room for the four of us to stay and sew! Linens are beautiful, and lots of dishes/glassware for busy quilters. its also always warm and cozy! Great to walk beautiful Rathtrevor beach too!

I come here every year for a getaway from Victoria either solo, with a friend, partner, or my kids. The rooms are beautifully appointed and comfortable with comfy beds and an electric fireplace, and everything you need to make your own meals, and there is access to the outdoor hot tub that you can't find anywhere else in Parksville for the price. Each living room has a pull out sofa so you can easily make do with a one bedroom suite for a family of four or if coming with friends. Vancouver Islanders don't really need a beach view and that is all that is lacking here which is why the rooms are cheaper, and having grown up on the island I don't feel I need a view. The beach is just a short walk away anyway.. I have found a couple hotels in Parksville with views that are in the same price range, but the room amenities are no where near as comparable as Ocean Trails. And Tigh Na Mara and the spa and restaurants are right next door if you want them.

We appreciate your repeat visits and want to thank you for taking the time to write a review of Ocean Trails. As you mention, there’s nothing like paying the price of a standard hotel room and receiving a condo rental with more space, private bedrooms, well-equipped kitchens, and amazing property amenities. Do come and see us again soon!

The unit was clean and had everything needed. The fireplace made for a cozy stay. The bed was comfortable. The property is a 3 minute walk to the beach. The staff were extremely welcoming. Will definitely return in 2018.
