We've never expected too much from the hotels like this, but at least we used to get what we pay for. But not this time.

First of all, it's actually a MOTEL. And that's a motel, where we even couldn't get our own parking spot, cause they are not marked according to the room numbers. So, if you came back to you room later than other hotel guests, you should find your own place to park, wherever.
Second, they position themselves as a 3-three star hotel on the Internet. What?! Cardboard walls, old-fashioned keys, and very little or no renovations in last 40 years with numerous of cracks, dents, and patches all over the interiors, rust in the sink and tub, and weak, but still ever-presented smell of cigarette smoke. Three stars?
Third, wi-fi. It was constantly out of range. None of us ever had a chance to use it during the whole stay.
Fourth became my personal disaster. I couldn't sleep for the whole night only because our room wasn't properly ventilated. Yes, it was equipped with the this typical monstrous a/c, but it was too noisy and powerful for such a small space. The fan has only two settings available - "high" and "low", and even being set to "low" it blows away everything around. And the only window can't be opened, of course, it's just a solid piece of glass.
Five, it's all ridiculously overpriced in the same time. I have had some experience of staying in the old small motels like this, but never in my life I had to pay over 60 bucks per night. So $130 here is just a total rip off!

I do keep one star for a good bedding only, but will never recommend this place to anyone.

Room tip: Try to book something closer to the office, at least you will get your in-room wi-fi.

Stayed at this hotel a few times now. We found room very clean. Prices are very reasonable. Staff very friendly and accommodating. The continental breakfast was okay, nothing exceptional. Would stay here again if need be.

I stayed for three nights in a basic room. Everything about my stay was pleasant. The desk clerk had me in and out in less than 5 minutes, The internet speed was consistently good, the room was clean, the staff was very friendly, the place was quiet.

My only issues were minor. My room had no dresser or closet, so I was in and out of my suitcase. The mini-fridge was off.

Room tip: Is your fridge running? Better be sure.

I traveled to Bancroft this past week-end Feb 13/2016 Stayed for 1 night at this Motel due to snowmobile races in the Bancroft area. Stayed in Room 220, standard room 2 queen beds. Price was 124.00 including taxes (after getting a 10% snowmobiles discount) Beds were surprisingly comfortable. But thats the ONLY good thing i have to say about this place!! when we got to the room it was a lil chilly in there so we turned the heat up...waited a half hour noticed the temperature gauge hadn't budged even a notch , so we cranked the heat to the highest setting, needless to say it still didnt even budge off of 60 it was -40 outside, when i complained about it, all the front desk said was ohhh its cause its so cold outside...NO thats not even the case, if that was the case houses would be cold and there temps wouldnt go up at all either, i had to bath my 2 small children in a freezing cold room as soon as i stripped there clothes off they got instant goose bumps cause thats how cold the room was. We literally had to sleep in our clothes with sweaters on top of it. when morning hit the Temp gauge still didnt even budge. They even had Plastic on there 1 window in the room..wouldnt you think if you have to put plastic over your windows thats a sign to upgrade your windows so heat can stay in your rooms? The door to the room has a lil gap all the way around it, it had the coldest draft blowing in from it all night. Not to mention there locks on there door had 1 dead lock on it, not the bolt shut one or anything like that just a normal lock and to top it off when you locked it from the inside sure it kept people out, but as soon as your turned the handle it unlocked the door inside, so if one of my small children were to wake up in the middle of the night even though i locked it and they turned the handle they could just open the door and walk outside. We had to move the table they had in the room to in front of the door to ensure our kids couldn't touch the handle. Fire hazard or what?? The bathroom has mold in the corners of the bathtub, really out dated rooms. I will defiantly NEVER stay there again!! Always the Sword from now on. The worst part is this motel wont care about this review as there are only 2 hotels/motels in Bancroft no matter what and how crappy there place is they will always have and stay in business!! very sad!! I even have video of all this...i just have no idea how to upload videos..Oh yea and there WIFI never worked 1 time

Room tip: dont stay here if you want a good room

I travel to Bancroft quite often on business and have always stayed at the Sword just because they offered Best Western points....they are not Best Western anymore and I thought I might try the Bancroft Inn and Suites for a change....I was very impressed with their price and the rooms are large and very clean despite the shoe box outside appearance.
