“Great theatre - Ushers need work”

Nice old theatre with good sightlines of the stage and great acoustics! Very comfortable and intimate setting.

Unfortunately the ushers need some help to figure out what they are supposed to be doing. Repeated pacing the aisles with flashlights at the ready greatly distracted from the show. Getting latecomers to seats in the middle of a song rather than waiting between songs disrupted everyone. Talking amongst themselves during the performance - c'mon folks! We are there for what's on the stage, not to hear about your day!
To sum it up: theatre good; experience average.

I am from Ottawa and went to NAC there for entertainment. I went to the Brockville Arts Centre first to see a play. I was blown away by how beautful the Arts Centre is. I have seen a movie, one play and a ballet with a Russian dance troupe. It was great. I am seeing Irish Dancing this week and they are a World Class Troupe as well. On weekends they screen Oscar and award winning movies- for $10. I highly recommend the Brockville Arts Centre. It offers world class entertainment in a pretty theatre that is a 14 minute walk from my house! Also the staff is wonderful, all volunteers!

We went there to see "Swan Lake" with the State Ballet of Russia. The theater is bery beautiful, but th seats up in the balcony are not very comfortable. The chairs are too close together - my knees were right up against the seat in front.
For this particular ballet production the stage is too small and when the entire company was dancing the tight amount of space became even more evident. It was obvious that the dancers had to hold back instead of doing their movements full out. Still, it was nice to see a good ballet company perform live.

This place is really the only game in town of you want to see a live show. They often have complementary exhibits in the lobby area by local artists. Many events also have a long bar. Seats are fairly comfortable and the audio is very high quality.
