It has been many years since we've stayed at this hotel. This was another weekend trip up to Richmond. Not much of the hotel lobby has changed much, nor its availability of outside parking and covered parking, both require daily fee but
the outside parking is convenient for those with cargo boxes etc. Front staff was friendly and they allowed us to move to a higher floor upon request - originally was on 3rd floor but moved up to the 11th floor, room 1102, a junior suite.
Regarding the room itself, I was glad to see the room was updated with usb outlets and seems refreshed. The room had 2 queens along with a sofa bed, so affords quite a lot of sleeping space. The setup though, was quite odd. The bathroom was in between the living room and the bedroom and if someone was in the bathroom with both sides doors closed, those that were in the bedroom side were stuck there. We stayed in the same type of room years ago but with smaller children wasn't as big of a deal. with older kids now, this was quite inconvenient. Also, the vacant upstairs room had its alarm clock go off at midnight and woke us up and took front desk about 15 minutes to find the room and turn off.
Couple things regarding the facilities - they do not provide slippers for the room. The pool was outside and is heated but not nearly enough to be used on a windy April night. The gym was adequate - space not big but they were efficiently equipped with ample cardio machines, an universal machine and couple benches with free weights.
