“Fantastic weekend retreat”
Reviewed 15 February 2017 for a stay in February 2017

Had a brilliant two night stay at the Old Farrowings. The brownies and flowers on the table were a lovely touch. Jane has done a fantastic job of making the place homely, having set up a fire ready for our arrival (it was snowing outside so it was definitely needed). The Old Farrowings is in a lovely setting at Biggin Grange, and we had a lovely walk from the cottage down into Dovedale.

I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone who is looking for a relaxing escape...

“Perfect little cottage, excellent location, very well looked after, couldn't really fault it!”
Reviewed 20 December 2016 for a stay in December 2016

Thank you for a lovely time at the Old Farrowings. Directions were very good and we received a friendly welcome even though we came up the wrong drive! (also thank you very much for the brownies - they were delicious)

The cottage itself is very well laid out and has everything you could need. Its not big but that's a good thing as its very cosy and has plenty of room for two, particularly as the bedroom is about as big as the rest of the house put together. We both loved it.

Part of the reason for wanting to stay here is that there are lots walks from the front door, the weather wasn't great but we walked a loop over to Alstonefield and stopped in the pub there for a pint, we thought it looked pretty good so ended up going there for dinner, which was excellent!

You have to search really hard before you can find any ways to fault this cottage, we had a lovely couple of days, I'd recommend it to anyone and when we're next in the area we'll definitely try to stay there again.

“Outstanding”
Reviewed 5 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

We arrived late afternoon after following satnav accompanied with faultless localised instructions from the Biggin Grange web site, and were offered a warm welcome from Jane the owner.
We were then shown to our cottage and given a brief but informative guide around the property & we were advised on how to contact them should we think of any thing we required.
The cottages are sufficiently close to the main house that assistance is always close at hand.
The entrance to the cottage is via a slab patio that has magnificent views that overlooks rolling fields with cattle, geese, a variety of birds and dry stone walling as far as the eye can see, the living area has a large three seater sofa and is sufficiently spacious that we were able to entertain 2 of our friends for the evening that were staying close by but was also very cosy when we lit the wood /coal burning stove later in the evening, the kitchen has plenty space to accommodate an occasional 4 if required but is more than adequate for 2 persons as is meant and it contains every pot, pan and utensil required to knock up a snack or Sunday lunch if required.
The bedroom is large and with ease can "swallow" the two seater sofa, four poster bed and more than enough storage space in drawers, & wardrobes, the spacious en-suite bathroom did not disappoint either.
The cottage used by us "The old Farrowings" the surrounding buildings including the Grange and the land around it are all immaculately maintained, there are plenty of local eating & drinking venues but if you are prepared to travel for 20 minutes we can personally recomend the Columbine restaurant in Buxton.
This is a value for money, wonderful base to stay during a trip to Derbyshire and we will return again soon we hope to explore more of the area.
Thank you Jane and Richard for looking after us so well.

“Wonderful peaceful idyllic setting”
Reviewed 30 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Terrific cottage, incredibly spacious one bedroom barn conversion. Terrific views from patio with the sunset to watch of an evening. Great location at the top of Biggin Dale, from where you can walk right down into Dove Dale if you want. The Tissington Trail also runs close so can walk or cycle traffic free for miles. Hartington is the other way with lots of facilities and the Cheese Shop.

Glad you managed to discover the Cheese Shop in Hartington! We are lucky having the village nearby and I heard last week that the Village Shop is doing wood-fired pizzas on a Friday night so I can imagine lots of guests will be heading down there now!
